LINKOUS, Mary Miller, 73, of Blacksburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 29, 2001 at her home after a courageous fight against cancer. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Harrison Miller, her stepmother, Dorothy Miller, her husband, Bobby Linkous, and a son, Jackie Underwood. Her spirit will live in the hearts of those left behind, two daughters and son-in-law, Linda Sarver of Blacksburg, Vickie and Dan Corder of Pulaski; two sons and daughter-in-law, Calvin Linkous, Dennis and Debbie Linkous, all of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Michael Bauserman, Chris and Michelle Pennington, Durell Crymes; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Larry Puckett, Nina and Rick Van Gordon, all of Christiansburg; three brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Mary Miller, Wilburn and Shirley Miller, all of Christiansburg, Willis and Joybell Miller of West Virginia; a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives, some very special friends, and the nurses from Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, July 1st, at the Merrimac Pentecostal Church in Blacksburg with Rev. Buford Linkous and Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be appreciated or contributions may be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Inc. 4005 Electric Road, S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24014. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 30th, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg.

LINKOUS, Cynthia Dalton, (Cindy), 38, of 722 Henry Avenue, Pulaski, died
Wednesday, March 29, 2000 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in
Radford, Va. on December 27, 1961. She was an employee of Corning, Inc.,
Blacksburg, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski.
Surviving are her husband, Robert (Bob) L. Linkous, Pulaski; daughter, Jerri
Lane, Pulaski; son, Robert R. (Robby) Linkous, Tazewell; parents, Jerry W.
and JoAnn B. Dalton, Pulaski; brother, Donald Dalton, Pulaski;
sister-in-law, Ronda Dalton, Pulaski; grandmothers, Bertha Dalton, Pulaski,
Virginia Knoll, Riverside, Calif.; special niece, Cris Dalton; special
nephew, Justin Dalton; many special friends from Corning. Funeral services
will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church,
Pulaski with Dr. Randy Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Highland
Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Friday evening at Stevens Funeral
Home, Pulaski where the family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m.

Hubert Jackson Linkous, 68, of the Belfast Community, died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, in the NHC Healthcare Center, Bristol Virginia.

He was a native of Pulaski County, had lived in Russell County for the past 43 years, and was a retired employee of Pittston Sea B Mining and a member of UMWA District No. 28.

He was a member of Belfast United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Lebanon VFW Post No. 9864, and a member of Lebanon Masonic Lodge No. 251 AF&AM, Castlewood Royal Arch Chapter No. 34.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mrs. June Hankins Linkous; one daughter, Mrs. William (Catherine) Chambers, Elizabethton; four sisters, Mrs. Irene Adkins, Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Marie Woodyard, Mrs. Patricia Woodyard and Mrs. Phyllis Kirk, all of Dublin, Va.; four brothers, Donald Linkous, Rich Creek, Va., Norman Linkous and Douglas Linkous, both of Dublin, Va., Berman Linkous, Elyria, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.



Russell County Funeral Home, Lebanon, is in charge.

LINKOUS, William Boyd, 77, of Roanoke, died Friday, December 8, 2000. He was born in Radford, Va., August 17, 1923, son of the late Arthur and Lorene Gerald Linkous. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie T. Linkous. He is survived by his sister, Margaret L. Roseboom and her husband, Archie of Kansas City, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Linkous was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, at Sunrise Burial Park, Fairlawn, Va. (Pulaski County). Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

Beulah White Harris Litz, age 87 of Wytheville, formerly of Pulaski died Tuesday evening May 13, 2003 at her Wytheville residence. Born November 10, 1915 in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Pearle Worrell White and Frank B. White. She was a creator of crafts for Charles Dickens Characters, and was a long time member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Wytheville. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband James “Jack” William Litz, three sisters; Alma Dalton Robertson, Beatrice Arnold, and Daphine Coffey, one brother; Sterling White. She is survived by one son; S. Arnold Harris of Roanoke: two sisters; Marie Hurst of Laurel, Md., and Jo Ann Akers of Pulaski: three brothers Ralph E. White, Frank B. White, and John W. White all of Pulaski. She is also survived by three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Thomas M. Seagle and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Randal Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. Visiting will be anytime Thursday after 2 p.m. at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The family will also be receiving friends at any other time at the residence of Jo Ann and Travis Akers, 3106 Fink Farm Road, Pulaski. Arrangements by Thomas M. Seagle and Sons Funeral Home, Pulaski.

Cambria was shocked and grieved to learn of the sudden death of Mrs. S.
J. LLEWELIYN Tuesday night about 10 o'clock. Her health had not been good
for some time, but she was about her usual work and apparently as well
as usual on Tuesday when, passing through the hall was stricken with apoplexy.
Her funeral was conducted from the home Tuesday morning by the Rev. J.H.
Powers, assisted by the Rev. High Smith and the Rev. P. M. Weikel. The
body was taken to Wytheville. Mrs. LLEWEILYN's old home, for burial.
Mrs. LLEWEILYN leaves, besides her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Jim BLACKWELL,
Cambria, Mrs. John WARNER, Galax, Mrs. Nina JOINT, Cambria, and Mrs. Jim
STUMP, Christiansburg, and one son Earnest LLEWEILYN

LO MASCOLO, Nicolo, 86, of Radford, died Thursday, July 3, 2003 in Carilion New River Medical Center. He was a retired Doctor of Music at Radford University. Surviving are his wife Gerry C. Lo Mascolo, Radford; his children and their spouses, Angelo and Susan Lo Mascolo, New York, Orlando, and Patsy Lo Mascolo, Knoxville, Tenn., Carlo and Cheryl Lo Mascolo, Radford, Gabriella and Stan Stanley, Dinwiddie, Giuliana and Ron Vega, Charlotte, N.C., Gloria and Gary Gibson, Roanoke, Giovanna and Jack Preston, Stuarts Draft; a brother-in-law, Nindo Perrino, Milan, Italy; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren also survive. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2003 at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurection will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Jude's Catholic Church with Father Patrick Golden officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saint Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or to the Dr. Nicolo Lo Mascolo Music Scholarship Fund at Radford University. DeVilbiss Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

The funeral of Harrison LONG, 8 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward LONG, who was fatally injured Tuesday afternoon when struck by the automobile of Frederick Courtenay BARBER, of New York, will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 0'clock from the home on the farm of A.B. HALL, the Rev. M.A. Stevenson officiating. Burial will be in the Ray cemetery.
Mr. BARBER, his wife, daughter and son are still at the hospital today where they have been since the accident under treatment for nervous shock due to the accident. It was John R. HALL, who lives near the scene of the accident who brought the child to the hospital.

Grace Slusher Long, 85, of Pulaski died Monday night, May 19, 2003 in the Pulaski Health Care Center. She was born in Pulaski on May 25, 1917 and was the daughter of the late John William Slusher, Sr. and May Welch Slusher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ira Hubert Long, Sr. and by a son, Bobby Long, by a sister, Viola Long, three brothers, John William Slusher, Jr., Charles Edward Slusher and Victor Eugene Slusher. She was a member of the New River Valley Baptist Church and was a retired employee of the Hensel Eckman YMCA having 15 years of service. Surviving are: her four daughters, Iris Kanode, N. C., Brenda Faw, Vinton, Doris Lewis, Draper, Linda Peak, Dublin; one son, Roger L. Long, Dublin; one sister, Ada Marisha, Lorton; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Aikens officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visiting will be Wednesday evening from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.

LONG, Lena Goodwin, 96, of Elliston, passed away Friday, June 22, 2001, in a Roanoke hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow; and grandson, David Long, II; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Goodwin; five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William R. (Bill) and June Long of Salem, David F. and Lorene Saunders Long of Roanoke; grandchildren, Bob Long and Patsy Long of Blacksburg, Amy and husband, Mark Ebel of Roanoke; great-grandchildren, William and Courtney Long of Blacksburg, Alexandra and Nicole Ebel of Roanoke; sisters, Ruth Gresham and Naomi Dent of Salem; sisters-in-law, Treva Reese and husband, Earl, Pauline Hoover and husband, Ed; brother-in-law, Robert Waters; a number of nieces and nephews. She was one of the remaining three of the Salem High School class of 1924 which had a reunion every year. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 25, 2001, at 2 p.m. in the Lotz Salem Chapel with interment at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at the Lotz Salem Chapel.

LORTON, Myrtle Louise Nunley, 80, of Radford, passed away Monday, March 26,
2001 at the New River Valley Medical Center. She was a member of First
Christian Church and retired from Blue Ridge Overall. She was born in
Montgomery County, daughter of the late Isaac Hobert and Mary Ellen Nunley.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Taylor Lorton,
sisters, Rachel Nunley and Virginia Hamm, and a brother, Patrick Dee Nunley.
Survivors include three daughters and son-in-law, Lila Lorton of Radford,
Patricia Williamson of Johnson City, Tenn., and Margie and Stanley Jones of
Bermuda Run, N.C.; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Nelson Mills
and Maria and Pete Moore, all of Radford, Alice King of Blacksburg, Betty
and Earl Sheppard of Walnut Cove, N.C., and Kitty Lucado of Christiansburg;
three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Janet Nunley of Powell, Tenn.,
Bob and Josephine Nunley and Johnnie and Audrey Nunley, all of
Christiansburg; a sister-in-law, Beulah Nunley of Christiansburg; a grandson
and his wife, Brian Taylor and Kimber Diane Jones of Upatoi, Ga.; a
granddaughter and her husband, Lori Ellen and David Randall Tucker of
Greensboro, N.C.; six great-grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Jones, Michael
Taylor Jones, Bryan Allen Engel, Michael Alex Engle, Taylor Diane Jones, and
Jordan Elise Jones, all of Upatoi, Ga. Funeral services will be held
Thursday, March 29, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Radford
with Rev. Gina Rhea officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial
Park in Radford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions
be made to the First Christian Church, 400 Tyler Avenue, Radford, Virginia
24141. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March
28, 2001 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

John Robert MABE, 83, Max Meadows, died Monday afternoon in Pulaski Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Wythe County, the son of the late William Harvey MABE and Susie HARRELL MABE, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maude NUNN MABE; two sons, Robert Lewis MABE, Max Meadows; Benjamin Franklin MABE, Bristol, Tenn.; one brother, T. P. MABE, Wytheville; four sisters, Mrs. W. E. WARDEN, Rose BRIM and Miss Nancy MABE, all of Draper; Mrs. R. E. AMBURN, Pulaski, four grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. from the residence at Fort Chiswell, with the Rev. L. N. Kegley officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The body will be removed from Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home to the residence late Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. Nell BRATTON MABE, Wytheville, died last night at Pulaski Hospital.

The former Pulaski resident is survive by her husband, T. P. MABE, Wytheville; two brothers, Harry BRATTON and Allen BRATTON, both of Pulaski, one sister, Mrs. R. H. LAWSON, Kingsport, Tenn.

Funeral service will be held Thursday in Wytheville with burial in St. John’s Cemetery there.

The body is at Porterfield-Minnick Funeral Home, Wytheville.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 3 p. m. from Strickler’s Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Harry L. Sumner and Rev. Parris Wood. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.



The body will remain at Strickler’s Funeral Home.
