Leave the porto and drive to Veria, the city of Berroia as mentioned in the Bible, that was St. Paul’s next stop and where he preached to the Jews that were more noble. St. Paul is the Patron Saint of the city of Veria. The classical city, bearing the name of one of the mythological King Veris daughters and and founded at the footsteps of mount Vermion, flourished during these years when huge walls were built to protect the city part of which can be seen at the entrance of the city and it was the first to surrender in 168 b.C to the Romans when it developed into the second important city in the area after Thessaloniki. We will visit the traditional Tribune and the Church of Christ, one of the many churches built during the Byzantine era, when Veria was called the small Jerusalem. Next you will go to Vergina, the first ancient capital of the Greek Macedonian Kingdom, to visit the Royal Tombs. Of these tombs, the most important is that of King Philip II, Alexander the Great's father. Your guide will accompany you inside the museum for a firsthand look at some of King Philip's most important possessions, including the king's shield and gold-trimmed breast plate. Also on display are gold diadems of unparalleled artistry, lavish wall paintings and a golden wreath of oak leaves. Afterward, lunch will be served at a local restaurant overlooking the immense Aliakmon Valley, before you return to Thessaloníki and the ship.


TRAPANI (Italy)
TPS01 – THE MEDIEVAL TOWN OF ERICE

Duration: approx. 4 hours

A 1-hour coach drive will take you to the fascinating medieval town of Erice, located on the top of  a mountain of the same name, affording a unique view of Trapani and the Egadi islands. Erice a charming town where time seems to stand still and where myth, legend and history are all mixed together. Legend says that the son of the goddess of love Venus, Eryx , built a temple to honor his mother and then established a town. You will be seduced by its winding cobbled stone streets, the beautiful houses courtyards and its hidden corners. Your itinerary will include key attractions such as the Mother Church, built in 1313, the Balio Gardens and to the Castle of Venus, a Norman fortification located where once stood the ancient acropolis and the temple of Venus. Before returning to the port you will have the opportunity to buy a souvenir in the many typical local handicraft shops.



Please note: this tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties or using a wheelchair as it involves long periods of walking on cobblestone streets and some steps.
TPS02 – SEGESTA

Duration: approx. 4 hours

Join us on a half-day tour that will take you back in time, to the origins of the Greek colonization of this part of Sicilian territory. You will reach Segesta, located in a beautiful position, in the middle of green hills and fields, to visit its archaeological site that reflects the presence of several ancient civilizations. You will have the opportunity to admire the Greek temple, built in the V century B.C., and considered one of the best preserved in the world with its 36 Doric columns. Next you you continue to the



Theatre, built during the hellenistic age and restored by the Romans; it rises on top of a hill overlooking the Gulf. The path to reach the theatre will allow you to find out the remains of the ancient town. Explore the site at your pace before returning to the port.

TPS03 – AN INTRODUCTION TO TRAPANI

Duration: approx. 4 hours

Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Trapani, partly by coach and partly on foot, to unveil the treasure od this lovely Sicilian town. A coach ride will take you to your first destination: the Pepoli Museum, located inside a former Carmelite convent right next to the Church of Madonna of Trapani or “Santuario dell’Annunziata”. Organized in 5 sections, the museum houses collections of jewels, marble sculptures, coral jewellery, paintings and an ancient guillotine. After the visit, the tour will continue with a sightseeing drive passing by Trapani's historical city center before taking an enjoyable walking through the streets of the town. You will admire the beautiful facades of the main churches of the town: the Cathedral, the church of the Collegio dei Gesuiti, the church of Saint Agostino and the church of Purgatorio; this last one houses the famous statues of "Misteri", that are 21 wooden statues belonging to the 18th century. At the end of the guided tour you will have some free time for shopping before walking back to ship.
