Women’s Day celebration: 09 August 2004

“Women Unite” group from Cape Town will visit India to interact with their counterparts on issues related to the empowerment of women. They will interact with and share experiences on the gains that women have made since achieving freedom in their respective countries.


School Interaction Programme: September 2004

South African High School pupils from 3 provinces (Gauteng, Limpopo and Western Cape) to visit India to celebrate 10 years of Freedom with their Indian counterparts, this will be a follow-up to the visit initiated by the Mission in April 2003, during which Indian school pupils visited South Africa.

Also planned are a visit of Pakistani parliamentarians to South Africa and the possibility of a journalist from Pakistan visiting South Africa in May.

The Mission’s media strategy will be initiated on 30 March as a run-up to Freedom Day. It will be directed at imaging and branding South Africa as well as creating greater awareness of our country
