MYP Coordinator

Roles & Responsibilities
Oversee the implementation and delivery of the MYP


  • Responsible for implementation and delivery of the MYP at Middle School.

  • Be knowledgeable of and work in support of implementation and delivery of the MYP at Riverwood High School.

  • Attend grade level meetings to support teachers’ efforts to implement and deliver MYP.

  • Provide MYP training for staff as required.

  • Coordinate off-site training (MYP, SIOP, ESOL endorsement).

  • Coordinate staff inclusion in Fulton County SIOP and ESOL endorsement training.

  • Coordinate PDS with Kennesaw and Ridgeview staff.

  • Create, collect and maintain documents required for IB Application B and beyond.

  • Plan for moderation in year three of programme.

  • Work with Riverwood High School coordinator and both schools’ administrators to complete and submit Application B.

  • Work with staff to develop ways to promote greater international presence in both schools.

  • Organize and standardize internal assessment tools which meet MYP criteria.


Communication


  • Meet regularly with High School counterpart to maintain continuity in programme.

  • Maintain communication with IBO through their various offices.

  • Provide IBO website access for all teachers and staff as required.

  • Distribute IBO literature and manuals as necessary (subject area guides, etc).

  • Communicate with parents to provide information about and maintain support for the MYP.

  • Provide communication to staff regarding the MYP programme directly and through Area of Interaction leaders and other staff members.

  • Member of LSAC.

  • Member Ridgeview leadership team.

  • Member PDS leadership team.

  • Meet a minimum of once a year with community groups to provide information about MYP.

  • Provide regular updates to administrators, school board, parents and community regarding state of the MYP programme.

  • Act as point person for data collection and analysis efforts to provide quantitative results of all programs at Ridgeview.

  • Create and monitor progress toward attainment of program benchmarks.

  • Provide assistance in GPS vs. MYP curriculum mapping efforts in al disciplines.

  • Stay knowledgeable of all charter programs and monitor their implementation and impact on the Ridgeview environment.

MYP Teacher Leadership Titles and Responsibilities
MYP Areas of Interaction Leader

Job Description – One year term


Enable the process of implementation of the areas of interaction by frequent contact with teachers.
Assist teachers in determining areas of interaction for units/lessons they are planning.
Suggest activities teachers can use with their students that are appropriate for the various areas of interaction.
Meet periodically with the MYP Coordinator to evaluate the implementation of the areas of interaction.
Assist in the development of units by providing specific area of interaction expertise.

MYP Subject Area Leader

Job Description – One Year Term


Work with and encourage other teachers of the subject area in the implementation of units and lessons in their classes.
Assist in the development of units by providing subject area expertise and county and state curriculum standards knowledge.
Meet periodically with the MYP Coordinator to evaluate implementation progress in the various subject areas and suggest additions, modifications and improvements in the units being implemented.
MYP Personal Project Leader

Job Description – One Year Term – Middle School


Work with high school Personal Project Leader and MYP coordinator to establish a mini-project suitable for level 3 (grade 8) students.
Provide assistance to High School Personal Project Leader as requested.
Work with MYP coordinator and Leadership Team to establish guidelines and objectives for Personal Project.
Provide communications to students and parents regarding personal project.
Work with and train teachers who will assist students with their personal projects.
Plan public display and recognition of projects.

MYP Personal Project Leader

Job Description – One Year Term – High School


Work with and assist middle school Personal Project Leader in creation of mini-project for level 3 (grade 8) students.
Work with students and staff to facilitate creation of and student support for Personal Project for level 5 (grade 10) students.
Work with MYP coordinator and Leadership Team to establish guidelines and objectives for Personal Project.
Provide communications to students and parents regarding personal project.
Work with and train teachers who will assist students with their personal projects.
Plan public display and recognition of projects.
