Summary of discussions
Summary of MP-AF discussion.
(a) harmonized terminologies into MPEG-21 and MP-AF categories,
(b) finalized Multimedia Preservation Description Information (MPDI) data model and defined relationships between entities/classes as well as subentities/subclasses,
(c) mapped MPDI data model using MPEG-21DIDL, W3C’s Provenance Ontology, and Library of Congress’s PREMIS for industry adoption,
(d) produced initial MDPI representation schema using MPEG-21 Digital Item Description Language and MPEG-7 Multimedia Description Schemes,
(e) presentation (M30463) from Jim Helman of Motion Picture Laboratories on Entertainment Identifier Registry (EIDR) which can potentially fits well with the MPDI digital item identifier scheme,
(f) discussed at a joint meeting between Systems and Video subgroups to discuss visual quality description framework that could capture results from quality analysis tools and record well-defined quality metrics, and
(g) discussed potential collaborations for the next MPEG meeting in Geneva: thanks to Prof. Touradj Ehrahimi of EPFL who will invite the Montreux Jazz Festival (MJF) Archives team and the audiovisual preservation technical team of EPFL to attend our next MPEG meeting to exchange technical experience from the MJF preservation project; and sent liaison letter (N13735) to invite EUB Quality Control experts for technical discussion on visual quality description framework.
