Forests are areas that are full of trees. We can find them in the islands of Indonesia. They spread along the islands of Sumatera, Java, Kalimantan, Irian and other island in Indonesia. They are very important for our lives.

Forests give us many kinds of export commodities such as timber, rattans, as well as rubber. Forests also protect us from danger of floods. In the rainy season the roots of the trees in the forests absorb the rain water and store it under the ground. In the dry season the water will come out and it is very useful for us for reservoir, and irrigation. If there are no forests, the rain water cannot be stored, there will be erosion of the soil and we will suffer from terrible floods.

Forests also help us to purify the air of pollution. The trees of the forests need carbon dioxide from the air and send the oxygen out into the air, which make the air fresh and pure. The fresh and pure air is needed for our health.

In modern times the main reasons have been economic. Often people fled because of poverty, even terrible famines such as those that afflicted Ireland in the 1800’s These people saw little future in their own lands. They often heard stories of a better life from people who had emigrated earlier.

Nutrition is the word for what we take into our bodies so that we will grow and stay healthy. Whether our food is from animals (beef, chicken, mutton), from the sea (fish, shrimp, lobsters, crab), or from the earth (rice, corn, green vegetables, fruits), all food is made up of several basic elements of nutrients. Our bodies basically need four types of nutrients from food: proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and vitamins and minerals.

Proteins help the body grow and repair itself when it is damaged. They are found in many kinds of food but especially in eggs, milk, meat, and fish, although many vegetable foods also contain high amounts of protein.

Carbohydrates give us energy. Athletes who are going to be active for a long time often eat large amounts of carbohydrates before they compete. The most beneficial carbohydrates come from vegetables sources such as wheat, corn, and beans. Sugars are also a form of carbohydrates but the body uses them quickly and without much benefit.

Fats also provide energy to the body after the energy from carbohydrates is used up. They come from both animals and vegetables.

Vitamins and minerals are another group of food elements. There are many vitamins and minerals (vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, and the minerals are zinc, iodin, iron, etc). But we don’t know that the best way to get the vitamins and minerals we need is to eat the right amount of the right kinds of food. Eating right by eating the right amount of the right combination of food types is the best way to make sure that we get all of the nutrition we need.

There are numerous things you can do to minimize your risk of cancer by a third. Research carries out by Harvard University showed one third of the seven million cancer deaths in the world in 2001 could have been avoided if the victims had taken sufficient fruits and vegetables, refrain from smoking, take less salt, sugar and oil; do more exercises, cut down red meat consumption and watched their weight. Over indulgence on unhealthy habits are key factors for stroke, cancers and heart attacks.

Some doctors say cancer is a multi-factor disease; it’s a combination of genetic environment and family history. It has no clear definition to pinpoint the exact risk factor. There is no guarantee that a person who follows good health procedure rigidly will not suffer from stroke, cancer, or heart attack. Conversely, there are many who indulge in smoking, drinking and other vice out lived a person who does not indulge in unhealthy living.

In my opinion, this is a very subjective issue and advise those who totally ignore the healthy life style to give up, or at least reduce their vice before it’s too late. As for those who follow the healthy life style rigidly to take it easy as a bit of red meat, deep fried food, or ice cream occasionally are not going to hurt them. Prevention is better than cure, so go for clinical check up regularly. Consult a doctor immediately if you suspect cancer as early detection and treatment give better chance of cure.

With the economy expected to grow by 6 percent this year, the government still faces the formidable task of reducing the unemployment rate and creating enough jobs to absorb those people entering the workforce for the first time. The country’s workforce increased by 1.8 million people. From 104 million last August to 105.8 million in February, but the number of people employed only rose by 1.2 million, or 31.2 percent. a number of dust bins should be increased

When we look at classrooms, school corridors and school yard, there are papers, mineral water cups, straws, and napkins here and there. The condition of uncleanliness and discomfort really hinders learning and teaching environment. Litters thrown carelessly causes disease, especially empty plastic cups or glasses. There are many jobs which people considered as very dangerous but they produce a lot of income. They include jobs like a stuntman, racing drivers and boxers.

Learning about a country’s culture, say American’s is important before we enter the culture.

You know, Americans tend to speak directly. When they disagree with someone’s opinion, for example, they will directly express that. It is different from us. We tend to be indirectly saying about what we want.

Second, differences in dealing with personal distance. Americans tend to require more personal space than we do, which means they don’t like standing too close to the people they are speaking to. This might be offending, but actually it’s an American’s custom. When someone feels you are standing too close, he or she may step back without even thinking about it.
