SUBJECT: Special Commission on Ministerial Structure and Strategy
WHEREAS, we join our bishop, The Right Reverend Edward Konieczny, in calling for a special task force to study ways to restructure the General Convention that promote both representation for the Church and better stewardship of our financial assets;
BE IT RESOLVED, that this 74th Convention of the Diocese of Oklahoma encourage dialogue at the general Convention of 2012 toward establishing a Special Commission on Missional Structure and Strategy charging them with presenting a plan to the Church for reforming its structures, governance, administration, and staff thereby facilitating this Church’s faithful engagement in Christ’s mission to the world.

CONVENTION of the DIOCESE OF OKLAHOMA

November 4th and 5th, 2011


Commissioning of Newly Elected and Appointed

Bishop: You have been called to a special ministry in this diocese. Will you as long as you are engaged in this work, perform it with diligence?
Members: I will.
Bishop: Will you faithfully and reverently execute the duties of your ministry to the honor of God, and the benefit of the members of this diocese?
Members: I will.
Bishop: Regard, O Lord, our supplications, and conform with your heavenly benediction your servants whom we admit today into their variously elected or appointed offices; that with sincere devotion of mind and body they may offer you a service acceptable to your divine Majesty; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
In the name of God and of this diocese here duly assembled, I admit you to your elected or appointed office.
Let us pray: O Lord, without whom our labor is lost: We beseech you to prosper all works in your church undertaken according to your holy will. Grant to your workers a pure intention, a patient faith, sufficient success on earth, and the blessedness of serving you in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

RESOLUTION NO. 1

SUBMITTED BY: The Resolutions Committee

SUBJECT: Appreciation for the Host Committee
BE IT RESOLVED, that this 74th Annual Meeting of the Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma join in resounding thanks to the Convention Host Committee at St. Patrick’s parish. We are especially grateful for the diligence of the Chairs Eric and Melanie Wignall, Parish Administrator, Suzanne Shepherd, and Rector, Reverend Shelby Scott in the planning of this convention.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Convention expresses its gratitude to the many volunteers from St. Patrick’s parish that offered their time, talents and hospitality to make this a memorable meeting of the diocese.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Convention extends our heartfelt appreciation to the management of The Renaissance Hotel especially the hotel’s planning coordinator, Sarah Dimon. We, also gratefully acknowledge the generosity of the Rib Crib at the Thursday evening dinner.

FINALLY, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Convention gratefully acknowledge the continued leadership and guidance of the Diocesan Office staff and the Diocesan Convention Planning Committee throughout this past year and at this convention.

SUBJECT: Convention Chaplain
BE IT RESOLVED, that this 74th Meeting of the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma extend our heartfelt thanks to Reverend Mary Ann Hill for her devotion and spiritual leadership as the Chaplain of this convention.

RESOLUTION NO. 3

SUBMITTED BY: The Resolution Committee

SUBJECT: The Anglican Covenant Response Committee
WHEREAS, each communicant of the Diocese of Oklahoma and especially the delegates of this convention have been given the responsibility to prayerfully study the proposed Anglican Covenant;

WHEREAS, the Bishop of this Diocese, the Right Reverend Dr. Edward Konieczny, was led to hear the thoughts and concerns of the people of this diocese concerning the proposed Covenant;

BE IT RESOLVED, that this 74th Convention of the Diocese of Oklahoma expresses its appreciation to members of the Anglican Covenant Response Group, the Reverend Dr. T. Lee Stephens, the Reverend Dr. Mark Story, Dr. Donna Farrior and the Reverend Mary Ann Hill, for their diligence in canvassing our diocese to listen to our voices and then write a reflective response to the Covenant.
RESOLUTION NO. 4

SUBMITTED BY: The Resolutions Committee

SUBJECT: The Episcopal Diocese of Uruguay
BE IT RESOLVED, that this 74th Annual Meeting of the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma extend our heartfelt regards to the people of our companion Diocese of Uruguay and its bishop, The Right Reverend Miguel Tamayo.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Convention expresses our joy in being associated with the Diocese of Uruguay and our gratefulness to The Lord for the opportunity to be in mutual communion with them.


RESOLUTION NO. 5

SUBMITTED BY: The Resolutions Committee

SUBJECT: The Ministry of our Bishop
WHEREAS, we recognize the strides our bishop has made in growing the church in Oklahoma through forward-looking programs, for encouraging the diocese to study and respond to the proposed Anglican Covenant and upholding our Covenant Relationship with the Diocese of Uruguay;

BE IT RESOLVED, that this 74th Convention of the Diocese of Oklahoma acknowledge and earnestly express our gratitude to our Bishop,

The Right Reverend Dr. Edward Konieczny, and his wife, Debbie, for their devoted ministry in the fifth year of his Episcopate in the Diocese of Oklahoma.

FINALLY, BE IT RESOLVED, that this body of the faithful in Christ hold up in prayer throughout the coming year the particular ministries of Bishop Konieczny and Debbie.
