The 152nd served as detainee prison guards at the Abu Ghraib prison, performed other security missions and provided military escort for many conveys in the Baghdad area. First Lieutenant Zebulan V. Murray, of Augusta, who has returned home after 13 months of active duty with the 1-152nd Field Artillery Forward Division stationed in Iraq. First Lieutenant Murray served as a detainee prison guard at the Abu Ghraib prison, performed other security missions and provided military escort on many conveys in the Baghdad area. Sylvia Harlow, of Portland, on the occasion of her retirement after 26 years as Director of Religious Education at St. Joseph's Parish. Mrs. Harlow has also served on the Parish Council and earned the respect and affection of all who have known her. She has been married to Representative Charles Harlow for 41 years, and they are the proud parents of 2 daughters, Denise and Kristen. Kyle J. Lad, of Glenburn, who has earned the distinction of being named Salutatorian of the 2005 graduating class of John Bapst Memorial High School. He is a National Merit Scholar and member of the National Honor Society and has earned numerous John Bapst academic awards for outstanding achievement. He has lettered in soccer, tennis, indoor track, track and field and math. He will attend Dartmouth College to study liberal arts. Edward Francis Connolly, a longtime Westbrook educator and school administrator. Mr. Connolly dedicated his life to educating and inspiring young people. He began his career in Kittery in 1955 and taught in Scarborough schools from 1957 to 1963. For the next 35 years, he taught in Westbrook schools, starting as principal at Prides Corner School. During his time with the Westbrook school system, he served as the Director of Elementary Education, Director of Curriculum K-8 and Superintendent of Schools from 1983 to 1995. Throughout his educational career, he remained steadfast in his belief that all children deserve the best education possible. He developed the mission statement for Westbrook Schools, "The best education for all for life." He was one of the longest tenured superintendents in Maine. In 1990, Mr. Connolly was the recipient of the Kennedy Center Award for Arts and Humanities. We acknowledge the dedicated service to the youth of his communities and to his profession. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, his colleagues and his students; (IN MEMORIAM) (HLS 1156)

Doctor John F. Andrews, of Boothbay Harbor, who has been chosen as the 2005 Windjammer Days' Street Parade Grand Marshal. Doctor Andrews has been a resident of Boothbay Harbor since 1954 and a physician there for 42 years. He delivered almost 1,000 babies at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor and called that the most satisfying part of his practice. He was also a pilot who owned his first plane at age 68 and still holds his pilot's license. We extend our congratulations to this well-known and well-loved Boothbay Harbor octogenarian; (HLS 1157)

the following members of the Odyssey of the Mind Team of Massabesic High School: Stephen Morrill, Morgan Roberts, Matthew Phinney, Audrey Allen, Amanda Michaud, Michael Peters, Ryan Peters and coaches John and Eleanor Roberts. This team, one of 5 from Massabesic High School, took home one of 19 first-place trophies awarded at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Competition in Boulder, Colorado. More than 770 teams from all over the world participated in the competition held at the University of Colorado. The winning Massabesic High School team is the first team to be World Champions in the district. We extend our congratulations to the team on this terrific accomplishment; (HLS 1158)

Acting Captain Perry B. Antone, Sr., of Hampden, on his graduation from the FBI National Academy. Captain Antone works for the Brewer Police Department. He was one of a select few to attend the FBI Academy. We extend our congratulations to Captain Antone on this accomplishment; (HLS 1159)

Specialist Ryan Philip Cunningham, of Topsham, who served 2 tours of duty in Iraq. the special occasion of the rededication of the Rockland Civil War Monument after its restoration and relocation to Chapman Park, at the corner of Park Street and Main Street. The original monument was dedicated in 1912 to honor Civil War veterans of Rockland, which had 1,048 men join the United States Army and Navy out of a total population of 7,300. On June 17, 1861, the 4th Maine Infantry left its camp at Tillson's Hill to begin its trek to fight at many of the war's battlegrounds, including; Chancellorsville, Fair Oaks, Malvern Hills, Second Bull Run, Chantilly, Fredericksburg and Gettysburg. Rockland was home to 4 generals of the war: Major General Hiram Berry, who was killed at Chancellorsville; Brigadier General Davis Tillson; Brigadier General Adelbert Ames; and Brevet Brigadier General Jonathon P. Cilley. We join the good citizens of Rockland in celebrating their brave Civil War soldiers and we extend our congratulations to the City of Rockland on the rededication of this important monument; (HLS 1162)

Martha T. Harris, of Gorham, who is the recipient of the 2005 Business Person of the Year Award sponsored by the Gorham Business & Civic Exchange. Ms. Harris is the owner of Natural Country Photography and a lifelong resident of Gorham. She has operated her photography business for 20 years. Cody Desjardins, of Madawaska, who has earned the distinction of being first in his class of the 2005 graduating class of Madawaska High School. He also received top honors in English, mathematics and science. Cody was a member of the National Honor Society and a delegate to Boys' State. He was a member of the school band, pep band and math team. He also participated in soccer and basketball. He will be attending Bowdoin College, majoring in biochemistry. Elaine Clark, of Cumberland, who has been selected to receive this year's "Preservation Champion" Statewide Historic Preservation Honor Award. Ms. Clark was awarded this honor for her exemplary leadership in several historic preservation projects. the life of Vaughan Gagne, of East Dixfield. Mr. Gagne was on the East Dixfield Fire Department for 32 years, he was a coach for Little League baseball and soccer at Kineowatha and helped with the Farmington Fair. He worked for International Paper for 35 years. The Town of Wilton has dedicated the 2005 Town Report to Mr. Gagne for his many years of dedicated service to the Town of East Dixfield and the surrounding communities; (HLS 1168)

Malcolm "Mac" Wilder Burdin, of Strong and Lakeland, Florida, who will be remembered for his dedication to his community and to firefighter service in Franklin County. Mr. Burdin joined the United States Marine Corps in 1942. He is an honoree of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Strong Fire Department and was elected chief in 1970. The present fire station is named in his honor, The Malcolm W. Burdin Building. He was a member of the Maine Fire Chiefs Association, member and past president of the Franklin County Firemen's Association, life member and past commander of Johnson-Cox Post 78 American Legion and a member of Davis and Blue Mountain Lodge of Masons. He was a certified fire and arson investigator for Franklin County and was involved in incorporating the 911 system for Strong. He was also active in many other civic and community organizations. He was always willing to help and went more than the extra mile. He will be missed by his loving family and many friends; (IN MEMORIAM) (HLS 1169)

Wayne W. Whitney, of Kenduskeag. Mr. Whitney worked for 30 years with the Farmers Home Administration of the United States Department of Agriculture in Rockland, Belfast, Bangor and Newport. He retired in 1982 as assistant district supervisor in Newport. After his retirement he was a real estate broker with the McPhail Agency in Lincoln. He operated tree farms in Kenduskeag and Bradford and was a member of the Small Woodlot Association of Maine. Mr. Whitney was active in his community and served on many boards for the town of Kenduskeag. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Shirley, his loving family and his many friends; (IN MEMORIAM) (HLS 1171)

Leroy D. Grondin, of Levant and formerly a resident of Bangor. Mr. Grondin was a longtime employee of the Bangor Daily News and was a National Guard member in his early years. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Muriel, and his loving family and friends; (IN MEMORIAM) (HLS 1172)

Bernice "Bunny" Jarvis, of Millinocket, a longtime pioneer within the credit union system, on her being named Honorary Board Member of Eastmill Federal Credit Union. Ms. Jarvis started work as a teller in 1957 and became manager of the credit union in 1974. She retired in 1989, but continued to serve on the Board of Directors from 1989 to 2005. In 1993, she received the Alexander Ferguson Award, which recognizes outstanding credit union volunteers. We extend our congratulations and best wishes to her; (HLS 1174)

Nickolas Gagnon, of Van Buren, a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 296, who has earned the high rank and distinction of Eagle Scout. Darren Mastropaolo, of Falmouth, a 2004 graduate of Falmouth High School and winner of numerous sports awards, such as Gatorade State Player of the Year as senior co-captain and being named to Maine's McDonald All-Star Team. He now attends Bucknell University and plays on that school's team, which recently had a victory over Kansas, a top-rated team in the NCAA Tournament. the NASB Task Force, Save Our Shipyard and Grow DFAS groups, as well as their host communities, for their members' tireless efforts to lobby against placing Maine bases on the final list of military installations recommended for closure or realignment. The volunteers of these groups have given great amounts of their time and personal resources to serve the State of Maine and our Nation by advocating for these important bases. Members of the group have been instrumental in meeting with Department of Defense officials, organizing community rallies, raising money and spearheading letter writing campaigns to keep the Maine bases fully operational. The communities that are home to these bases have responded with great energy and have forcefully voiced their support for the bases.
