Watch Out For…Sunday, 22 August 2010 5:30pm Art NationThis week, Art Nation profiles Ewan Leslie, the stage actor said to be the next Geoffrey Rush. Like many actors Leslie is unassuming off stage, perhaps even a little shy. He certainly bears no resemblance to the blood-stained, unsettlingly charismatic monster he recently summoned for eight exhausting performances a week for the Melbourne Theatre Company. He was acting in the title role in Richard III, a production by MTC's artistic director Simon Phillips that gained almost unanimously ecstatic reviews. Art Nation catches up with Leslie as he prepares for his latest role as Josef K in Franz Kafka’s The Trial at Melbourne’s Malthouse. Plus Art Nation heads to Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) for the Valentino retrospective which has been curated by Pamela Goldbin. Goldbin is curator-in-chief for the fashion and textiles collection of Les Art Decoratifs in Paris which examines the influential Italian designer’s legacy as ambassador of elegance. This exhibition explores Valentino’s techniques and recurring motifs such as ornamentation, the use of geometric and animal prints. Garments worn by Hollywood stars such as Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman and Elizabeth Taylor and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis will be on display. To close the show, the bluegrass ensemble The Wilson Pickers play in the Art Nation studio. Art Nation will be repeated on ABC2 – Sunday, August 22 at 7.00pm  http://abc.net.au/iview/
