Poh's Kitchen

This week Poh has a Russian theme happening in her kitchen. During these colder months of the year, she is a sucker for a good winter soup and dumplings and is making her version of Pirozhki and Borscht. Poh’s Pirozhki are baked and filled with a sensational filling of cabbage, mushroom, carrot, chicken and pork mince.

Emmanuel Mollois is becoming a regular visitor to Poh’s Kitchen and is back this week, but he is staying French. He explains that many of the foods that are considered to be traditionally Russian actually come from the Franco-Russian cuisine of the 18th and 19th centuries, and so he’s making a classic dessert, the original Gateau Napoleon. Then as a comparison to Poh’s Borscht, he makes a soup from his home area on the Atlantic coast of France, Soup de Poisson a la Vendeenne, or just plain ‘Fish soup’ in English.

Poh’s Kitchen will be repeated on ABC2 – Thursday, August 26 at 6.00pm
