New Members

Marine Ron McDowell was sworn in as Cape Atlantic's new member. Welcome on board, Ron.

Kitchen

Volunteers are always needed in the kitchen. Let us know if you can help. A kitchen Team with meeting & event setup, take-down, Mess and kitchen clean-up duties needs to be formed. The more members we get on the team, the lest work they will all have to do. Team work pays.

Road Clean-Up

There is a road clean-up this Saturday September 12th starting at 0830. We walk rain or shine, suggest bringing bug spray for ticks & chiggers. Anyone is invited to help out, bring the family or friends. It's only a mile and one half around Lily Lake, hope to see you then.

Good of the League

To all,

The Detachment will participate again this year in the "Run For The Fallen". Please note: this year Atlantic County's portion is on Friday, the event is now four days and all Hero Markers have been renumbered.

The annual "Run For The Fallen" will be in our area Friday, September 25. I would like to have 2 or 3 League members at each site that honors a fallen Marine. There are 5 sites, details below. The preferred uniform of the day is red MCL polo shirt, black trousers (khaki if don't have black), and red MCL cover.

Site #1: 0828 Shore Road (US Army Reserve Bldg, 133 Shore Road, Northfield), HM 207, Marine, SSgt Anthony L. Goodwin
Site #2: 0934 Route 9 (Absecon Veteran's Park, 167 New Road), HM 212, Marine, LCpl Donald S. Brown
Site #3: 1036 Route 9 (Intersection @ E. Somerstown Lane, Galloway) HM 217, Marine, Sgt Brian D. McGinnis
Site #4: 1049 Route 9 & Leeds Point Road (at Oceanville Fire House) HM 218, Marine, Lance Cpl Christopher B. Cosgrove III
Site #5: 1102 Route 9 (at Galloway Elks Lodge) HM 219, Marine, Lance Cpl Luke C. Yepsen
For those not familiar with this event here's a little info.
One Mile, One Flag, One Hero

In an apolitical reflection of remembrance a team of 24 military personnel from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and other bases across the country will come together to embark on a 188+ mile run that honors every NJ service member killed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn and all Wars and Conflicts. Each mile of the run is dedicated to a NJ Hero and their family. The run team willstop at each Hero Marker presenting a flag and personalized biography to waiting loved ones and comrades. With the intent to create a 188+ mile memorial trail across New Jersey.  Below is taken from the Run For The Fallen website their Purpose and Mission Statement.
