24 During the fieldwork, the author observed that a particular multiple-question with four (4) options needed an additional option because the response from the respondents was not on the list of possible answers hence an additional option was created and added to the questionnaire in ink to reflect the current situation regarding the issue.
Similarly, an adjustment was made to a particular response on the question under reference to capture the real issue on ground. The question under reference reads thus, How do you dispose your household waste.
Option a reads, pickup by visionscape/Cleaner Lagos Initiative but in reality, the response was that they were informed by the agency to drop off their waste at a designated area within their neighbourhood for general communal collection at a later date for reasons that would be discussed under results. The additional option
created for this question was, awaiting collection, the implication of which would also be discussed in subsequent pages. A questionnaire pretest on the sample population would probably have taken care of this before the field survey but due to distance
and limited time constraints, no pretest was carried out rather the author relied on his experience from previous surveys in drafting the questionnaire.
