Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 11:10 P.M.:  The Queen Mary II http://www.qm2.org.uk/itinerary.html will be docking in Manhattan tomorrow on Wednesday September 29, 2004 for a cruise to Quebec.  They are coming down from Portland, Maine today, so more than likely they got the rain from Hurricane Jeanne that is currently dropping some rain here.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 10:55 P.M.:  I went through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 10:25 P.M.:  I put together an overnight bag to take with me down to Philadelphia, Pa. on the train.  I will stay up until midnight, and I will get up at 10 A.M. tomorrow.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 9:45 P.M.:  I printed out my itinerary for the my trip tomorrow.  I chatted with a relative.  I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm .  I used all of the regular ingredients except, I used a tin of sardines that I chopped instead of tuna fish, and I used a peeled sliced cucumber.  For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Stop and Shop Swiss cheese.  I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 8:05 P.M.:  I have a Amtrak reservation from Stamford, Connecticut on Train #173 leaving at 2:56 P.M. tomorrow and arriving at the 30th Street station in Philadelphia, Pa. at 5:25 P.M. at a cost of $52.  I will be picked up my relatives at the train station in Philadelphia.  A couple of hours before the train departs from Stamford, I will call a Greenwich Taxi 1-203-869-6000 to take me from my apartment to the Greenwich train station where there is a local train every half hour to Stamford, Connecticut.  I chatted with a friend and a relative.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 6:30 P.M.:  I chatted with a friend.  I picked up my laundry downstairs, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I put away my laundry.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 4:55 P.M.:  I finished showering and cleaning up.  I have 15 minutes to go on the dry cycle of the laundry. TCPalm: Press Journal and Weather Hazards for Southern Fairfield, CT and National Weather Service Forecast Office - Upton, NY .  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 4:20 P.M.:  I threw out some garbage.  I started the dry cycle on the laundry, and I have 50 minutes to go until its done.  I will now shower and clean up.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 3:55 P.M.:  I started two loads of laundry, and I have ten minutes to go on the wash cycle.  I also put clean linens on the bed in the bedroom.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 3:10 P.M.:  I woke up this morning, and I ate a bowl of triscuts with iced tea.  I did not fall asleep until 6 A.M..  I had a telephone call at 11 A.M. from a relative.  I had another call from my state worker.  I had a telephone call about the Hyundai, but I told them it was sold.  Today is the last day the advertisement in the newspaper runs, so I did not cancel it.  I was up at 1 P.M.  I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee.  I picked up my mail downstairs.  I chatted with a neighbor.  Yesterday, before my relatives visited, I put a Glade plug-in oil scent Hawaiian Breeze scent refill in the glade scent dispenser in the kitchen, so the apartment smelled better.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 2:00 A.M.:  This Wednesday on Amtrak www.amtrak.com from Stamford, Connecticut to the 30th street station in Philadelphia, PA. , there is a 8:24 A.M., 9:28 A.M., 11 A.M., 12:56 P.M ., 2:56 P.M., and 3:26 P.M. costing $52 and taking about two and a half hours.  All but the first is reserved coach.  I called Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL, and they told me I can make a reservation without paying the fare until I arrive at the train station of departure, if making the reservation less than 24 hours before departure.  If more than 24 hours, I have to pay when I make the reservation.  I still have to wait to see what my relatives say in the Philadelphia area.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/28/04  Tuesday 1:20 A.M.:   I went outside briefly.  I bought the 1999 Hyundai Hatchback Accent L on August 26, 2002 with the help of a relative that financed it.  I paid $3,200, $150 purchase tax, $130 auto registration over two years, $20 emissions, $1,448.82 maintenance which included new Sears Michelin 175 70/13  tires, front end alignment, dealer maintenance, oil and filter changes, new battery, and other maintenance items, and property tax of $54.55 for a total over two years of $5,003.37.  On the car itself without registration cost, emissions inspection cost, and property tax it cost $4,798.92 for the purchase, tax, and maintenance.  I sold the car for $1,950, so it cost $2,842.82 to own the car for 25 months, or $113.96 a month plus insurance, gasoline, property tax, registration, and emission inspection.  I gave the sale money back to my relative that helped finance the Hyundai less the cost of what it will cost me to register the Volvo and transfer its title.  Automobile registration, gasoline, insurance, drivers license, emissions inspection, and property tax cost $2480.28 or about $99.22 a month, so without my relative financing the car, I would not have been able to afford it.  Since I am getting the Volvo from a relative for a dollar, I will not have the automobile depreciation costs.  When I bought the car, it had 31,800 miles on it, and I sold it with 42,300 miles, so I put 10,500 miles on the Hyundai, and it thus cost with depreciation me and my relative $.507 or 50.7 cents a mile to own and operate the Hyundai.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/27/04  Monday 11:00 P.M.:  I am just about ready to eat a Stouffer's Lean Cuisine 13 5/8 ounce chicken fettuccini dinner with broccoli and a glass of iced tea.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/27/04  Monday 10:45 P.M.:  I chatted with two relatives and a friend.  I called www.geico.com at 1-800-42GEICO , and I cancelled my Hyundai insurance, and the policy on the 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo starts at midnight tonight.  They emailed me the insurance cards, and I printed out four copies.  I got $100,000, $100,000 $300,000 liability, collision and comprehensive, and it is the same rate as I was paying on the Hyundai. They will bill me to start the new policy after the current policy expires October 7, 2004.  I got a quote on $20,000 renters insurance, and it would be $14 a month with an initial payment of $50, which I might get starting at the first of the month.  The renter's insurance is sold by GEICO with www.travelers.com as the insurance company.  I called a relative back to tell them I had insured the Volvo.  I am not sure yet whether I will pick it up in the Philadelphia area traveling down by train, or if it will be delivered.  To register the Volvo, I have to do a VIN identification search at the Danbury, Connecticut DMV http://dmvct.org/ , but currently their web site does not work.  Since I am getting the Volvo as a gift for a dollar from my sister, I will not have to pay Connecticut state tax on it, but I will need proof that the seller for a dollar is my sister, which hopefully she will provide.  The VIN identification search can not be done at the Norwalk, Connecticut DMV office.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/27/04  Monday 7:30 P.M.:  My relatives stopped by briefly.  I will go back down to Philadelphia on Wednesday to see them and pick up the Volvo.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/27/04  Monday 6:05 P.M.:  I sold the Hyundai.  I have the relatives whom are giving me the Volvo stop by here in an hour on their way down from Maine.  I will go down to their house in the Philadelphia area on Wednesday on the train to pick up the Volvo, and I will return back here on Thursday with the Volvo.  It is suppose to rain on Tuesday.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/27/04  Monday 4:35 P.M.:  I woke up, and I ate a Nutri-grain bar.  I was up at 2 P.M..  I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee.  I went outside, and I picked up the mail.  I showered and cleaned up.  I went outside, and I chatted with a neighbor.  I cancelled my 4 P.M. appointment.  I am waiting for the party to come and buy my Hyundai at 5 P.M..  I was able to move the task bar to the left monitor.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/27/04  Monday 12:25 A.M.: I watched the hurricane coverage from Florida through the internet.  I returned my computer system to its previous settings.  I can not get the task bar to move from the right monitor to the left monitor, when I changed the left monitor to be the primary monitor.  I went outside briefly while watching the coverage.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed.  I intend to stay in tomorrow until 5 P.M. when the party comes to buy my Hyundai.  I will have to cancel my 4 P.M. appointment.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 11:15 P.M.:  I chatted with a relative.  I have Channel Five NBC from Indian River Country, Florida http://www.tcpalm.com/tcp/press_journal playing on my television through my internet connection.  I was able to get its sound to work by changing the Creative Sound Mixer to four speakers, and I have the Real Player working on the right Sony Monitor, which I set as the primary monitor, so it plays through my Orion television.  I turned off the air conditioner in my apartment, since it is cool outside.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 10:45 P.M.:  I went outside briefly and threw away some garbage.  The elevator broke today, but the Otis Elevator repairman was here, so hopefully it will be repaired soon.

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 10:30 P.M.:  Yahoo! News - St. Helens Activity May Signal Explosion .  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 10:25 P.M.:  I went through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 10:20 P.M.:  I chatted with a friend and a relative.  I left a message with a friend.  I ate a 12.5 ounce Stouffer's Lean Cuisine roasted chicken with mushrooms dinner with a glass of iced tea.  I ate a bowl of triscuts.  I watched some television.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 8:50 P.M.:  I made a System Restore backup.  I ran disk cleanup on the C: drive, and I removed the older System Restore backup files.  I then transferred the D: drive files to the C: drive in a D: folder.  I then used the XP backup program with the Automatic System Recovery option, and I backed up the entire C: drive to the empty D: drive.  I then transferred the D: drive contents from the C: drive D: folder back to the D: drive.  I then backed from the C: drive to the D: drive, the My Documents folder, and then the Music files and then all of the other files except the C:\Windows and the "C:\Program Files" in three separate backup files in a D:\backupc folder.  I now have 7.11 gigabytes free space on the C: drive and 2.86 gigabytes free space on the D: drive.  I then ran Norton Speed Disk on the C: drive.  I rebooted and the computer system is running just fine, and all of its regular maintenance is done.  I watched some television while doing all of this, and I also went outside.  I also chatted with a relative.  Once I have finished the sale on the Hyundai tomorrow at 5 P.M., I will have to go down to the Philadelphia area on the train to pick up the Volvo at a relative's house.  However, for the drive back the next day, I will have to make sure the weather is clear, so I have not yet determined my travel plans for that event.  Also I want to wait until the Hyundai sale is finalized.  Since I have probably sold the Hyundai, I will not be driving it until the new owners take possession.  Thus I will not be downtown in Greenwich much, until I return to Greenwich with the Volvo some time in the near future.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 6:05 P.M.:  I showered and cleaned up.  I went outside, and I chatted with some neighbors.  I  will now do a C: drive to D: drive backup of my computer system.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 3:30 P.M.:  I had a telephone call from a relative at noon today.  I chatted with another relative.  Then a party called up to look at my Hyundai for sale.  I chatted with another friend.  I ate two Nutri-Grain bars.  The couple showed up to look at my Hyundai.  They took it for a test drive.  They agreed to buy it.  They will be stopping by tomorrow evening at 5 P.M. to make the final transaction.  I took the for sale sign out of the Hyundai window.  I chatted with another relative.  Once I have sold the Hyundai, I have to pick up the Volvo in the Philadelphia area at another relatives.  I might be able to drive down on Wednesday with two other relatives to the Philadelphia area whom are driving through this way.  If not I will have to take the train down to the Philadelphia area.  The relatives driving through this area are think about some time in the near future about possibly having me go to down to Florida, if there are any problems with their house in Florida which was in the path of hurricane Jeanne.  I left a message with another relative.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 4:40 A.M.:  I watched some television.  I ate a bowl of triscuts.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 3:05 A.M.:  I went through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 2:35 A.M.:  I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm .  For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Stop and Shop Swiss cheese.  I also used half a sliced peeled cucumber.  I made the salad with all of the other usual ingredients.  I had the salad with a glass of iced tea.  I watched some hurricane coverage on television.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/26/04  Sunday 12:40 A.M.:  I ate a Nutri-Grain bar, and I went out after the last message.  I went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought a dollar of regular unleaded gasoline at $2.159 a gallon for about 25 miles per gallon usage.  I then went downtown, and I bought a number 27 scratch card at Zen stationary for a dollar, and then I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue.  I sat out at various locations.  I had to use the bathroom, and since Starbucks in closed for remodeling until October 4, I used the bathroom at the Food Emporium.  I bought a 36 ounce bag of Eight O'clock hazelnut coffee beans for $7.99, a dozen extra large eggs for $1.79, a 12.5 ounce Stouffer's Lean Cuisine chicken fettuccini dinner for $2.50, a 13.5 ounce Stouffer's Lean Cuisine chicken with mushrooms dinner for $2.50 for $14.78 total.  I then drove down by the waterfront.  I next returned home, and I started watching hurricane Jeanne coverage on television.  I took down my shower curtain and shower curtain liner and Rubbermaid bath mat, and I washed them in the washer machine with about a pint of bleach to remove the mold and soap scum.  I then rehung the shower curtain and liner, so they are now fresh.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/25/04  Saturday 7:45 P.M.:  I chatted with two relatives.  I reinstalled the Weather Pulse program, but it still tends to be a bit buggy.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/25/04  Saturday 6:30 P.M.:  I ate a Nutri-Grain bar before going to bed.  I had a telephone call from a friend at 6:30 A.M. this morning.  I ate a bowl of triscuts.  I chatted with a relative at about 10 A.M..  I finally woke up at 5 P.M..  I had breakfast of oatmeal, toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee.  I had a message on the answering machine from a relative.  I went outside, and I picked up some mail from the mail room.  We had a letter from the Greenwich Housing Authority that individuals unknown have been stealing furniture from the community room downstairs.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/25/04  Saturday 6:00 A.M.:  I ran Norton Speed Disk on the C: drive.  I ate a Kellogg's Nutri-Grain raspberry bar with some iced tea.  I went outside briefly.  It is bit damp out.  I watched television while running Norton SpeedDisk.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/25/04  Saturday 4:00 A.M.:  I finished going through my email.  Human interest story from Florida TCPalm: Alcohol on list of necessities for many from TCPalm: Press Journal . For the better heeled whom don't worry about tropical weather BBC NEWS South Asia White tea - pick of the crop.  Tea Time half way around the world.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/25/04  Saturday 3:10 A.M.:  In the Norton Internet Security 2004 firewall settings, I increased the settings from the recommended setting of medium to high.  I also blocked ping in the Firewall settings, but when I tested the firewall with Symantec Security Check , it showed the ping ports are still open.  Basically when one is dealing with a user friendly technology, it does not have the same security that one might find in Black Box technology that is somewhat more expensive and complex to operate.  Still even Black Box technology is fairly simply to override if one understands the principles behind it.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/25/04  Saturday 2:20 A.M.:  The last two times, I sent out copies of my weekly notes to three U.S. government recipients along with the other recipients, I have had my computer malfunction in the process of sending them when other email goes through without any problems.  Also previously the Optimum Online server would reject them until, I tried to send them a number of times.  The fact that the process of sending the notes seems to aggravate someone with the capability of monitoring and hacking my system causing system damager, it would seem to me the individual or individuals responsible are in violation of the law as established by the Federal Communications Commission.  Below is a copy of the note I sent to my usual Scott's Notes recipients.  Note Follows:

Scott’s Notes, Technical Note 09/25/04

In the process of sending out Scott’s Notes on a weekly basis to the three U.S. government

recipients that I send them to, I break them up into 8 to 10 parts to send the longer note of my log.

However, recently and for some time in the past, whenever I send the notes, my computer malfunctions or does

not send them, when other email goes through without any problems.

It is like somebody is monitoring my internet activity that does not like me sending the notes.

Since I know the U.S. Government would not do this, since it would be against the procedures established by the

Federal Communications Commission, I can only assume some outside agents of influence in this area with capability

of monitoring my internet activity is responsible. Thus if they show such a high level of sophistication in terms of hacking

and intercepting email communications more than likely they are involved in other more serious forms of criminal activity.

It would seem to me that if the agents of deceit are intercepting communications, they would have a separate agenda from

the current U.S. government and more over if it happens to me in simple internet activity, more than likely more important

communications are being monitored and stopped or intercepted.

Very Seriously Yours,

Michael Louis Scott

End of Scott's Notes week of 09/25/04:

Note: <888> 09/25/04  Saturday 12:45 A.M.:  One should remember to look at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml , http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/weather.htm , NRL Monterey Satellite Photos , with the latest hurricane Jeanne tracking at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ftp/graphics/AT11/refresh/AL1104W+GIF/250323W.gif and http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ftp/graphics/AT11/refresh/AL1104W5+GIF/250323W5.gif .  I had one telephone call this morning on my Hyundai for sale 1999 Hyundai Accent L for sale with 42,500 miles at Greenwich, CT. USA, for $1,950 cash .  The party said they might call back, but they did not, but they said they were interested in a car with air conditioning, which the Hyundai does not have.  If nobody buys it by next Tuesday, the Greenwich Time will advertise it for another week for free for the cost I have already paid for the advertisement at Greenwich Time - Classifieds Search Mike Scott's Hyundai and http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&paId=155350674&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&recnum=19&leadExists=false&criteria=K-%7CE-%7CM-_19_%7CB-6000%7CD-_218_%7CN-N%7CR-50%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CZ-06830&aff=scni including being published in the classified advertisements of the Greenwich Time and the Stamford Advocate.  I will now send out my weekly notes, and then I will do some regular computer work.  CIO

Note: <888> 09/24/04  Friday 11:55 P.M.:  I went out after the last message.  I went by the Greenwich Library, and I read the Greenwich Time.  I then went by CVS on Greenwich Avenue, and I bought a Pioneer Photo Album with 100 magnetic pages or 50 sheets style no. LM-100 for $7.99 plus .48 tax for $8.47 total.  I then walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations.  I peeked behind the paper on the windows at Starbucks' remodeling, and it is completely gutted.  I noticed on the railroad station movie theatre marquis, they  are having the Greenwich Film Festival on Sunday September 26.  I suppose it will bring out some movie buffs.  I next drove down by the waterfront.  I then went by the Food Emporium, and I bought a 16 ounce bar of Stop and Shop Swiss cheese for $4.39, a 10 ounce bag of fresh spinach for $1.99, a 10 ounce box of fresh mushrooms for $2.29, and two Stop and Shop blue toilet bowl cleaner tablets for .99 each for $10.77 total.  I then returned home, and I drank some iced tea.  I had a message from a relative on the answering machine.  I will now put my most recent batch of photographs from my last two trips to Kennebunkport, Maine in the new photograph album.  I will put the new photo album on the far right of the photograph album shelf on the center hallway bookcase.  I will then do some regular computer work.  I suppose if one were once again being encouraged to evacuate the coastal area in Florida, and if one were on limited income, and if gasoline were still available in Florida, one could try to drive up to Atlanta again or take the bus http://www.greyhound.com/  or train http://www.amtrack.com/ , and if a Days Inn http://www.daysinn.com/  or other inexpensive motel were not available in the rush to get out of Florida, one could see if there was room at www.extendedstay.com or http://www.motel6.com/ , and of course there are many other hotel and motel chains and independent operators such as http://www.holidayinn.com/ .  Of course for larger budgets in Ashville, North Carolina www.biltmore.com has guest facilities.  I once gave a relative for Christmas in Florida, a book called "Bed and Breakfast Inns in America", which if one could afford it might be a more interesting way to travel to see some of the local color.  Of course, with so many people having to continually evacuate Florida this hurricane season, I suppose lots of people are taking "pot luck" and sleeping in shelters or other places of shelter.  Of course if one does mind cooler weather, there is lots of room in the New York area including Greenwich, Connecticut http://www.geocities.com/mikelscott/greenw.htm or in Chicago, Illinois or even Canada for that matter.  For the group of retired people called the "Leafers" whom come north for the fall foliage tours, the trees are still green here.  Also retired people could help defer the cost of a trip to Canada by buying cheaper pharmaceutical prescriptions, which I am sure they already know about. CIO

Note: <888> 09/24/04  Friday 7:55 P.M.:  I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm .  I used a tin of sardines that I chopped instead of tuna fish.  For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Kraft Cracker Barrel 2% low fat sharp cheddar cheese.  I also used a half of a cucumber that I peeled and sliced.  I made it with all of the other usual ingredients.  I ate it with a glass of iced tea.  I chatted with a relative.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will go out soon.  CIO
