Note: <888> 10/16/04  Saturday 7:15 P.M.:  I threw out the garbage.  Somebody or persons unknown had thrown out a pine or light maple microwave cart with white tile top, middle white Formica shelf and lower cabinet with doors.  I brought it up to my apartment and dried it off, and I put it in front of the Danish bar.  It is 33 inches high, 18 inches deep, and 25.75 inches wide, and it is on small coaster wheels.  I moved the brass and glass coffee table 12 inches away from the cart, so the doors have room to open on the cart.  I will not put anything on it, and I will leave it available for an open buffet cart or serving cart, if one wanted to use it for making beverages in front of the Danish bar.  Of course to get the items out of the Danish bar, one would have to move the cart out a bit.  Since it was free, it was just the effort of moving it, and it does not clutter up the apartment, and it fits in just fine.  However, next spring when relatives come through or a friend drives me up to Maine, the Queen Anne chair is going back up to Maine, so I will then put the microwave or serving cart in the location of the Queen Anne chair, where it will fit in just fine.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/16/04  Saturday 6:20 P.M.:  I boiled a gallon of water in a six quart Revere pot, and I added a tablespoon of olive oil and a half of teaspoon of salt.  I then boiled a 16 ounce package of Stop and Shop vermicelli for six minutes.  At the same time I reheated in the microwave a half of a 26 ounce jar of Master Choice marinara sauce in a microwave proof plastic pot with lid, and I put half of the vermicelli on a plate with the marinara sauce, and I refrigerated the jar with the other half of the marinara sauce, and I put the remaining vermicelli in a Rubbermaid container in the refrigerator.  I covered the vermicelli and marinara sauce with a thin layer of grated parmesan cheese, and I ate it all for dinner with a glass of iced tea.  I hung the Plantronics DSP500 headset on the right jumbo 3M hook, so it is more handily stored, but if one uses the Visioneer 4400 scanner on top of the CPU and has to open the lid, one will first have to move the Plantronics DSP500 headset.  I am now making up a fresh batch of www.geocities.com/mikelscott/icetea.htm .  I will now throw out some garbage.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/16/04  Saturday 4:45 P.M.:  I went out after the last message.  I went by the Exxon gasoline station next to the Greenwich Library, and I bought $12.75 of premium unleaded gasoline at $2.539 a gallon for about 15.2 miles per gallon usage around town.  I next went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.  I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought a box of 11 seltzer cartridges made in Hungary for .50.  I then went downtown, and I chatted with a local.  I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue including the train station area, and I sat out at various locations.  I stopped by the Korean vegetable and fruit market, and I bought four Dole bananas for .80 all.  I stopped by CVS during my walk, and I bought a hand painted tea pot of a French Chef for 75% off for $2.49 plus .15 for $2.64 total.  Also on my walked, I used the bathroom at the senior and arts center twice.  I also stopped by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I bought a 3M Jumbo Command adhesive hook for $4.99 plus .30 tax for $5.29 total.  Then upstairs at the Greenwich Hardware store, I bought a red, white, and blue "Support Our Troops" magnetic ribbon for $2 plus .12 tax for $2.12 total.  When I completed my walk, I put it on the passenger side rear of my Volvo.  I next drove down by the waterfront.  I then started to go for a drive in back country, and I drove up Old Church Road, but by the time I got to North Street, I remembered how expensive gasoline is, so I cut across Parsonage Road, and I drove by the Nathaniel Whitherall retirement home, and I drove down Husted Lane, and I drove by my family's old house on Cornelia Drive which has been torn down to build a new house under construction.  I then drove west on North Maple, and back south on Lake Avenue, and then north on Glenville Road to Valley Drive and back to West Putnam Avenue to my apartment, so I used about 12 miles of driving from the time that I filled up the car.  I then put the large 3M hook on the right side of my right computer monitor, and after it sets for an hour, I will hang the Plantronics DSP500 headset for the computer from the right side of the right monitor.  I put the French chef teapot on the second shelf up from the floor of the right hallway bookcase.  I move the core sample from that location to the bottom shelf of the left bookcase in the hallway.  I put the Seltzer cartridges with the other ones on the rack to the right as one enters the bedroom.  I chatted with a relative.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/16/04  Saturday 9:35 A.M.:  I put about 3 teaspoons of olive oil and three pads of margarine in my 10 inch omelet pan, and I heated it over medium high electric heat.  I sliced eight 1.25 inch by 2 inch by 1/8 th inch slices of Stop and Shop Swiss cheese.  I cracked three extra large eggs in a metal bowl, and I added about 1/8th of a cup of 2% low fat milk, and I whisked it all together with a metal whisk.  Once the olive oil was heated in the omelet pan, I added the egg mixture to the omelet pan, and I lower the heat to  a little lower than medium.  I let it cook, until it began to harden on top.  I then flipped the omelet with a spatula, and I covered one half of it with the five slices of the cheese.  I then folded the bare half over the covered half, and put it on a warm dinner plate.  I put the remaining three slices of cheese on it and covered it with a medium to light covering grated parmesan cheese.  While cooking the omelet, I also toasted two slices of bread, and I spread two pads of margarine on each and spread it, and I cut the toast in half.  I had it all for dinner with a glass of iced tea.  I don't wash my omelet pan, but I just wipe it dry with a paper towel, so it does not stick in the future, and it gradually conditions the omelet pan.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/16/04  Saturday 8:45 A.M.:  Fix up that old sofa like I did Buy the Sure Fit Soft Twill Solid Slipcover from SmartBargains.com or http://www.surefit.net/ .  CIO

End of Scott's Notes week of 10/16/04:

Note: <888> 10/16/04  Saturday 7:40 A.M.:  After the last message, I ate a 5 ounce tin of Armour Vienna franks with a couple of teaspoons of Bournier whole grain Dijon style mustard.  I then went to bed.  About 9:30 P.M., I chatted with a relative in Vero Beach, Florida http://www.tcpalm.com/tcp/press_journal , and I was told lots of houses have blue tarps on their roofs from hurricane damage.  I was also told that they are giving lots of hurricane relief money to Miami, Florida which did not have any hurricane damage.  I then slept until 2:30 A.M..  I had breakfast of oatmeal with five sliced strawberries, two pieces of toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee.  I went back to bed until 7 A.M..  I went outside, and I threw out some garbage, and I chatted with some neighbors.  I will now send out my weekly notes.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/15/04  Friday 2:10 P.M.:  I picked up the mail.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/15/04  Friday 1:25 P.M.:  I checked outside, and the mail person is just beginning to distribute the mail.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/15/04  Friday 1:10 P.M.:  I watched some television.  I ate about three pretzel rods and three 1 inch by 1.75 inch by .25 inch slices of Swiss cheese.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/15/04  Friday 12:05 P.M.:  I went through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/15/04  Friday 10:55 A.M.:  I am now studying http://www.amongprices.com/ .  CIO

Note: <888> 10/15/04  Friday 10:50 A.M.:  I looked at www.overstock.com , and they are still a bit pricey for me, but with today's increased prices, they might have some bargains.  I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm .  I use a tin of sardines that I chopped instead of tuna fish.  For the cheddar cheese portion, I used Stop and Shop Swiss cheese.  I used all of the other regular ingredients except mushrooms.  I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea.  I threw out the package of week old Portobello mushrooms, since they looked a bit old.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/15/04  Friday 9:05 A.M.:  I finished house cleaning and watering the plants.  I threw out the garbage.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/15/04  Friday 5:50 A.M.:  I was up at 3:30 A.M..  I had breakfast of oatmeal, two pieces of toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee.  I checked the General Electric big button phone with the Plantronics headset attached to it, and the speed dial buttons on the General Electric big button phone did not preserve the numbers that I had programmed into them.  I checked, and the Plantronics headset also works at setting 5 on my AT&T www.att.com #6402U01A telephone made in Hong Kong.  The AT&T is probably my best corded telephone.  I attached the AT&T telephone to the Plantronics headset to the left side of my primary computer on the dining room table.   I made up a label with the speed dial memory 12 telephone preset names, and I scotched taped it onto the AT&T telephone.  I then programmed it with 12 telephone numbers, and it all works just fine.  I moved the General Electric big button telephone on to the mahogany bureau in the living room next to the French reproduction sitting chair with the white throw.  I put the 3 volt #2032 disk battery back in it that I had taken out yesterday, and I put the new #2032 battery back in its packaging.  Thus the General Electric telephone does not have preset dialing buttons stored in memory, since its memory does not work, although the General Electric telephone does work for chatting.  I cleaned the Northwest Bell telephone next to the Queen Anne chair beneath the Orion television.  I will now do my house cleaning and watering the plants.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 8:25 P.M.:  I microwaved a 10 ounce can of Campbell's New England clam chowder, which I ate with a glass of iced tea.  I chatted with a friend.  The friend caught a 42 inch 32 pound striped bass, so they must be running about now.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 7:20 P.M.:  I chatted with the relative that returned to Florida, and the relative is doing fine, but tired.  Obviously, there is a bit of work to done down there.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 6:25 P.M.:  I went out after the last message.  I went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, and I bought a cigarette lighter to cigarette lighter jump start system for automobiles for $2.  I put it on the package shelf behind the rear seat in the Volvo.  I moved the emergency glass breaking hammer to in between the front seats in the arm rest compartment.  I then went by the Merry Go Round Mews thrift shop, and I bought a 28.75 inch by about 18.75 inch size with frame mirror with a lengthwise octagonal shape with an imitation dark oak finish on the frame for $10.  I then went to my 3 P.M. appointment.  I next went by the Greenwich Hardware store, and I bought a package of two 50 pound OOK hooks for $2.99, a package of three 30 pound OOK hooks for $2.99, and a 3M Command large plastic hook with adhesive strips which can be removed for $3.29 plus .56 sales tax for $9.83 total.  I then drove down by the waterfront.  I next returned home.  I brought up the mirror, and I cleaned it off.  I hung it on the wall above the toilet, and it looks just fine.  I took down the NASA shuttle picture from the hallway side of the bathroom door, and I put it behind my bed head board.  On the hallway side of the bathroom door, I put a 50 pound OOK hook, and I hung the mirror that I replaced above the toilet on the lower half of the door beneath the other mirror, so with a five inch gap between mirrors, one gets a full length mirror perspective when the door is closed.  I then put the 3M plastic hook on the top left side of the left computer monitor, so I can hang my Plantronics telephone headset off of it, but first it has to set for an hour, and it is now ready, so I hung the headset on it.  The package and the spare adhesive strip is in my center desk drawer.  I chatted a relative, and my other relative arrived safely in Florida.  The memory speed dial buttons on the General Electric big button phone were not working properly, so I replaced the lithium 3 volt #2032 battery with a new Duracell one, so hopefully they will now work, which they do after a half hour of inactivity on the phone.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 12:45 P.M.:  I cleaned the cordless phones.  I showered and cleaned up.  Google Desktop Search finished indexing the desktop.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will go out.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 11:55 A.M.:  I will now shower and clean up.  I will go out and do some errands before my 3 P.M. appointment.  I will leave the computer running, so the Google Desktop Search can finish indexing my computer.  I will turn off the monitor.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 11:45 A.M.:  I installed Google Desktop Search http://desktop.google.com/ .  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 11:35 A.M.:  I read through the last past six weeks of the Greenwich Citizen and the Greenwich Post.  I chatted with a relative that is at the airport departing for Florida today for the season.  I went outside, and I threw out the old newspapers.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 10:00 A.M.:  I mailed a letter downstairs in the mail room.  I threw out some garbage.  I have a 3 P.M. appointment today, but I don't think I will be going out before it, since it is a bit damp out, and I warm and comfortable at home.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 9:35 A.M.:  I ran Norton Win Doctor.  I ran Ad-Aware SE.  I made and ate my usual salad www.geocities.com/mikelscott/salad.htm .  For the cheddar cheese portion, I use Stop and Shop Swiss cheese.  I used all of the other usual ingredients.  I ate the salad with a glass of iced tea.  The Net2Phone Stamford, Connecticut access number works from here in Byram, Greenwich, Connecticut, if one dials 203-325-0539 with out a beginning 1.  Of course to use Net2Phone access numbers in neighboring communities, one should have toll free dialing to those neighboring communities.  My Net2Phone calling card feature for telephone to telephone calls is now working.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 7:45 A.M.:  Weather Hazards for Southern Fairfield, CT .  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 7:20 A.M.:  I finished going through my email.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 6:00 A.M.:  I updated my personal telephone list, and I printed out copies, and I put them by or underneath or besides my telephones.  I tried accessing my Net2Phone account from the telephone instead of the internet, and from the telephone it says that it is closed.  I emailed www.net2phone.com to reactivate it, so it also works from the telephone.  On my Verizon telephone plan, I have local dialing to neighbor communities for the rate that I pay which includes Port Chester, New York and Stamford, Connecticut.  However, the Net2Phone 3.9 cents a minute local number to Port Chester, New York works at 1-914-612-1307, but the local number to Stamford, Connecticut at 1-203-325-0539 does not work.  Net2Phone also has a 800 number for 6.9 cents a minute at 1-800-840-7438.  I set up the speed dial numbers on my General Electric big button telephone by my primary computer, and while doing it, I accidentally dialed 911, and the Greenwich Police called me back to see if there were any problems.  I told them I must have made a mistake in setting up the speed dial numbers, and there was no problem.  On the General Electric big button telephone, the first speed dial number is the Port Chester, New York Net2Phone 1-914-612-1307  access number, and the second speed dial number is my Net2Phone account number, so once the Net2Phone telephone card option works, I will dial with the first Speed Dial button on the General Electric big button phone, the Port Chester New York Net2Phone access number, second the second button for the Net2Phone account number, then enter my personal PIN number, and then press a speed dial number or enter a number for the long distance telephone call at 3.9 cents a minute.  Of course I have to wait for Net2Phone to enable this feature of my account again.  Also one has to have money on their Net2Phone account which I do.  Of course through the computer, Net2Phone's charge for computer to telephone calls domestically in the USA is 2 cents a minute, but some times one wants to make a telephone call when the computer is turned off.  Also on my AT&T www.att.com long distance plan for $10 a month minimum connect fee, I have to make $5 a month in calls at 10 cents a minute, or I will be charged for them anyway.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/14/04  Thursday 3:45 A.M.:  I went to bed after the last message.  I chatted with a relative whom visited Manhattan yesterday.  I ate a bowl of the last of the Doritos guacamole chips, which I ate with a glass of iced tea.  I woke up at 2:30 P.M.  I watched the last half hour of the rebroadcast of the Presidential debate.  I thought it was Friday night not Wednesday night.  I ate breakfast of oatmeal with four sliced strawberries, two pieces of toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 6:20 P.M.:  I chatted with a relative, and I ate my meal.  Remember to occasionally check Mount St. Helens VolcanoCam - Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument and USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory (CVO)  .  David Johnston Geological Society - News - Mt St Helens - twenty years on  and The Man Who Gave Everything and CVO Website - David A. Johnston whom died in the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980 worked out of the University of Illinois University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where my paternal grandparents were from.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will go to bed soon.  As it gets colder, I probably will be doing more work on the computer and the internet as usual.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 5:35 P.M.:  I am microwaving a Stouffer's Lean Cuisine 13.25 ounce chicken Florentine, which I will eat soon with a glass of iced tea.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 5:15 P.M.:  I installed two Windows XP SP2 updates, and I rebooted.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 5:05 P.M.:  I left a telephone message with a friend.  I went outside briefly, and it looks like it is going to rain tomorrow weather.com - Local Travel Page Greenwich, Ct.  .  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 4:40 P.M.:  I chatted with a relative and a friend on the Plantronics headset, and they said it sounded just fine.  I have the speed dial numbers wrong on the General Electric big button phone, so I have to reprogram them when I have the time.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 4:10 P.M.:  On the http://www.shoplet.com/ web site when I ordered the adaptor, I should have made the order over $25, and it would have been free shipping.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 3:55 P.M.:  I got the Plantronics system working on the General Electric big button phone.  This is the headset Plantronics Supra H51 with this adaptor Plantronics M12 , and I followed these instructions http://www.plantronics.com/media/media_resources/literature/user_guides/userguide_m12_en.pdf .  I then tested it by calling the Verizon operator, and the Verizon operator said it sounded just fine.  There are different settings underneath the small panel, and I put it at 5 for the General Electric 2-9267A big button telephone, and it worked.  I set the out going volume at the middle level.  I put in two new CVS AA alkaline batteries in the unit.  I move the princess style phone that it did not work with to the right side of the Dell backup computer, and I moved the General Electric big button telephone to the left side of my primary computer on the dining room table.  I have it connected into the Radio Shack electronic amplifier system.  I have the Plantronics Vista M12 unit set to have the General Electric telephone headset work, and once one lifts the receiver, one can push the headset or middle button, and the headset will work.  I have the headset hanging from the left monitor draped around the CRW www.crw.com red answer ball.  Although, I do not use the line telephone very much for outgoing calls because I use Net2Phone, I do chat with relatives and friends regularly on the line phones when they call me.  I ordered the Plantronics AC/DC wall adaptor for the M12 unit from this link AC power adapter for Plantronics MX10/M12 headset phones by PLANTRONICS PLN2650301 for $8.92 and $5 UPS shipping for $13.92 total.  Since the Plantronics headset and amplifier are an expensive item at retail, I figured that I should also have the AC DC power adaptor to use it.  Staples carries the item on the internet, but I am not sure they have it in our local store.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 1:55 P.M.:  I went out after the last message.  I went downtown, and I walked the entire length of Greenwich Avenue, and I sat out at various locations.  I used the bathroom at the senior and arts center.  I then drove down by the waterfront.  I then went by Putnam Trust Bank of New York on Mason Street.  I then went by the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop.  I ran into a former neighbor whom I had not seen in a while, and I was happy to see the former neighbor.  At the Greenwich Hospital Thrift Shop, I bought a Plantronics www.plantronics.com H51 Supra One Ear Headband Headset http://store.yahoo.com/ahernstore/h51.html and Plantronics M12 Vista Universal Modular Adapter http://www.ahernstore.com/m12.html with headset extension cord all for $5.  I helped a neighbor load a computer table into my Volvo with the seats down, and I delivered it back to my building with my neighbor, and I put it in the neighbors apartment.  I then put the Volvo rear seats back up.  I tried to get the Plantronics adaptor and headset to work, but I could not get it to work.  I tried putting new batteries in it, and I tried it on several different telephones.  Instead of returning it for $5 refund, I will try getting to work at a later time.  I left the batteries in it that came with it.  It might be a problem with telephones that I am trying to use it on.  I moved my Volvo to its usual place.  I picked up my mail.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 7:15 A.M.:  Dinner was delicious.  I will now shut down the computer, and I will clean up, and I will go out for some daytime activity.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 6:45 A.M.:  I finished reading the Volvo Owner's Manual.  Basically at 100,000 miles the fuel filter needs to replaced and the EGR valve needs to be cleaned, so hopefully that has been done.  I have about 98,600 miles on it currently.  I will now reheat the barbeque boneless breast of chicken breast, steamed white rice, and steamed baby green peas, which I will eat with a glass of 2% low fat milk.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 4:25 A.M.:  I emailed the relative that I got the Volvo from about whether the fuel filter was replaced, when it was recently serviced.  I put away the laundry.  I will now start reading the second half of the Volvo owner's manual.  CIO

Note: <888> 10/13/04  Wednesday 3:20 A.M.:  I was up at 1 A.M..  I had breakfast of oatmeal with half of a sliced banana, two slices of toast with strawberry jam, orange juice, vitamins, supplements, and coffee.  I started two loads of laundry, and I have 40 minutes to go on the dry cycle.  I put clean linens on the bed in the bedroom.  I took off the summer blanket from the bed, and I put on the winter blanket.  I also put the heavy comforter at the end of the bed, and I will spread it out over the bed once it gets colder.  I put another comforter on the far end of the blue sofa.  I threw out some garbage.  I refilled the Glade plug-in refill in the kitchen with a 60% mixture of English Leather cologne and 40% of 91% isopropyl alcohol leaving a half inch of air at the top.  I am able to remove the lid of the Glade plug-in refill with a standard screw driver, and I use a miniature funnel to fill it.  CIO
