Technical comparison of Dreamliner 787 and Airbus A XWB When the features of both products are compared and contrasted, both companies claim to offer products with superior technical features, which are more or less similar to each other (See Table 1). Both planes have 2 cockpit crews and maximum speed of 0.89 mach numbers (speed of plane/speed of sound. However, A can carry more passengers that ranges from 270 to 350 passengers depending on the model, whereas, Dreamliner ranges from 263 to 310 passengers. The length of A is more, which ranges from m to maximum m, while, the length of 787-9 ism and 787-
10 ism. The height for both aircrafts is almost same, approximately m. The range of A is stronger, that varies from km to maximum km, whereas, the 787 models has either km or km range. Then, all these product differentiation strategies and many others were derived by the help of "World Design Team" - a virtual community whose members had opportunities to provide input to the development of the airplane. This proactive customer driven product differentiation enabled the
Dreamliner to be presented as "the most advanced and efficient commercial airplane in its class, one that will set new standards for environmental leadership and passenger comfort" by the Boeing.
