This chart is taken directly from the Feb. 2006, Economic Report of the President. Since GDP is generally accepted as the broadest measure of the economy’s health and the CPI is generally one of the leading indicators of inflationary trends, the data presented in the previous table draws a picture of a relatively stable and well‐positioned economy over the next five years.

Economic Outlook Summary
Nationally, the economy continues to show signs of positive, albeit modest, growth. Outside of energy prices, which are volatile, there is very little inflation in the economy. Both of these trends are forecasted to continue as indicated by the above table. Locally, the economy of the city of Atlanta is showing tremendous growth by every conceivable metric. The population is growing and commercial construction is booming. Personal income rose 15.6% (6.1% increase on a per capita basis)
