FY2014 NJDCA Small Cities Grant Application
The Borough was awarded a $400,000.00 grant to provide ADA improvements to the Borough Hall, Fire House and Public Works Department.
The improvements consist of:
1. Fire House – Elevator, restroom, meeting room.
2. Municipal Complex – Restroom counters, signage and striping.
3. Public Works – Bathrooms.
We have submitted a proposal on November 26, 2013 and are waiting for authorization.
FY2014 NJDOT State Aid Program
The State has sent out letters announcing the 2014 State Aid Program. Grants are available for the following categories:
Grant applications were due September 20, 2013.
The Borough is submitting for the reconstruction of 95th Street from First Avenue to Second Avenue.
FY 2013 NJDOT State Aid Program
The Borough was awarded a $175,000.00 grant to reconstruct First Avenue from 89th Street to 80th Street.
FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program
This grant program provides a 75% grant for various flood mitigation projects.
The Borough has selected to submit five (5) grant applications and the first step is to submit a Letter of Intent for each project by March 31, 2013.
The five (5) applications are as follows:
Replacement of Various Bulkheads
Raising of Various Private Homes
111th Street Beach Outfall
Emergency Generators at Recreation Building
Various Pump Station Elevation Adjustments
Sanitary Sewer, Water Main, Storm Sewer, Beach Outfall Improvement Project– Phase 3
A Letter of Intent has been submitted to NJEIT.
The full application was submitted March 3, 2014 and we are waiting for authorization.
95th Street Well Redevelopment/Emergency Rehabilitation
The bid opening occurred on February 7, 2013.
Uni-Tech Drilling was awarded the contract in the amount of $112,900.00.
A pre-construction meeting was held on May 2, 2013 at 1:30 PM.
Construction is on hold until well issues are resolved.
Uni-tech Drilling has completed installation of the liner casing for well No. 6 and is currently completing pumping of the well to remove sodium and chloride contamination caused by the vertical leakage. Once the pumping is completed the well rehabilitation project including pump replacement will be reactivated. .
Various Parking Lot Improvements
Survey has been completed and the design process has begun.
Marina Breakwater Replacement
Survey has been completed and the design process has begun.
2014 Utility and Road Program
The project was advertised on January 24, 2014.
The bid was awarded to Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc., P.O. Box 530, Hammonton, NJ 08037, in the amount of $1,465,300.00.
The pre-construction meeting was held on March 12, 2014.
93rd Street and 107th Street Bulkhead Replacement
Bid opening occurred on October 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM and the bid was awarded to R.A. Walters & Son, Inc. in the amount of $268,540.00.
A pre-construction meeting was held on December 3, 2013. The date of completion of all work is February 2, 2014.
93rd Street bulkhead and 107th Street bulkhead are 90% complete.
Remaining work to be completed is landscaping, asphalt and installation of storm sewer piping and associated inlets.
NJDEP Water Allocation Permit
NJDEP has the application in review but are pursuing additional study of the 800 foot sands aquifer prior to publishing the draft permit for public comment. A meeting/conference call was held on March 4, 2014, in order to address NJDEP concerns in regards to the permit and chloride / sodium sampling. The Borough needs to comply with additional sampling protocol and frequency to provide data for BWA evaluations. A regional meeting to discuss concerns with the 800 foot sands is being scheduled for April 2014. Representatives from the Borough of Stone Harbor and Remington, Vernick and Walberg are requested to attend.
ADMINISTRATOR –Administrator Gougher reported that in the meeting with County Tourism we are now going to have monthly meetings Kim and Miranda will meet with the County and also representatives from the Reeds to continue to keep that dialog open and come up with ideas for long term marketing. Today we also met with Scott Wahl to try to expand other ways of promoting the Borough, very confident we will develop a comprehensive marketing plan for the Borough moving forward.
