Presentation by Zelda Reeber of Weston, MO and member of the Leavenworth County Historical Society. Matilda Joslyn Gage, along with Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, was a founding member of the National Woman Suffrage Association and co-edited the first three volumes of the six-volume "The History of Woman Suffrage". Gage was a supporter of women's rights throughout her life. This event is sponsored by the LCHS in recognition of Women's Equality Day, celebrated yearly on August 26.

Established as a fundraiser for local nonprofits, this 3-day event combines hot air balloons, food and live entertainment. Special shape and standard hot air balloons launch at 6a.m. and 6p.m., Friday–Sunday, along with a full schedule of daytime activities and events throughout the weekend.

Longtime collaborators, Jerry Noble, pianist, and Bob Sparkman, clarinetist, combine French-influenced jazz with classical, featuring cellist Christopher James, in Debussy’s Cello Sonata. Noble is a pianist/composer of national significance. Sparkman is a collaborator with jazz legends. Young talent, Christopher James, has joined this concert for several years with tremendous response.

In a musical family finale, pianist David James (“playing on a big Romantic scale”-N.Y. Times), joins daughter Lynelle James, pianist (“real tenderness” and “the extroversion of a committed performer”- N.Y. Times) and son Christopher James, cellist, alumnus of Tanglewood, Soundfest, and Bard festivals in music of Brahms, Schubert, and more.
