Vol. 4 No.1 ATLANTIC CITY SHOW WAS SUCCESSFUL: Museum members, Gary Stabile, Everett Ross, Tim O’Rourke and Dave DiEugenio trailered our 1975 Checker Cab to the Atlantic City Convention Center for a 4-day display. The Checker, donated by Museum Treasurer, Ele Chesney, was beautifully restored and presented for the public to enjoy. The purpose of the display was to promote our building campaign.
FUND RAISING 2006:

EDUCATION:
Education committee chairperson, Dennis Derion, said the “History on Wheels” program was an outstanding success at Southern Regional High School on April 27th. We have two additional shows scheduled; on May 23rd at St. Dominic’s School in Brick Township and at the Christa McAuliffe Middle School on Friday, June 16th. We averaged near twenty cars per show and talk to hundreds of students. Our drivers have beautiful cars from all of the decades of the 1900’s. More important are the stories they tell to the students about life during the specific decade. This program provided an opportunity for the Museum and Club members to work together for a worthwhile cause. Our plan is to expand this program and develop the new Museum Speaker’s Bureau to serve schools, clubs and other organizations.

MARKETING:
Mr. Ralph Simon, museum trustee, was appointed Public Relations Director and joins marketing committee chairperson, Nick Rabi, to provided multi-media advertising for Museum promotions. The expansion of the Museum web site and in particular the opening of the new “Museum Gift Shop” are two goals for this year. Our Museum brand is established and becoming recognized around the County and around the State. Senator Leonard Connors, Jr. and Committeeman Chris Connors and Brian Rumpf endorsed our Program. Our state representatives said “We believe that the History On Wheels Program will provide unlimited educational opportunities for students and the public as well”. We were awarded our fourth tourism grant from the Ocean County Freeholders and we have two additional grants pending.

FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:
The dream began in March 1999, when Walter Piatkowski stood up at a Vintage Auto Club meeting with check in hand and pledged the first $100.00 for the Vintage Automobile Museum of N.J. Since that time, many of you have joined the dream with your own monetary support. And that support did not end with the simple act of opening your check books. You have devoted your valuable time in setting up our displays at car shows, then sitting at that show for hours, either in the smoky confines of the Atlantic City Convention Center, or the wind swept expanse of Englishtown. You have sold raffle tickets to your co-workers, friends and family. Selling raffle tickets for a beautifully restored Mustang was the easy part; selling the idea of a vintage car museum has proven to be a challenge.
For 2006, the challenge will continue. The old Checker has undergoing its transformation to being a genuine New York City Taxi. We will use the taxi to promote the museum at every car related event possible, and at each show we will be selling 50/50 tickets. We have more interested people showing up at our meetings, and that can only mean that you have been spreading the word about our organization. Many of you have brought in new members, and membership will be the cornerstone of the museum. So the dream of building New Jersey’s first vintage car museum is not waning. Instead, it is growing. The approach of each New Year brings hope, and a promise that the New Year will be better than the last. Together, we can make 2006 the year we finally stick that golden spade into our own property. I know all of you are ready.
- John Mahoney
OUR MISSION FOR 2006: TO SECURE A LOCATION FOR THE MUSEUM
There is not now, nor has there ever been, a true antique automobile museum in New Jersey. We are in the process of raising funds to build such a museum. We will have a family attraction that will bring history, fun and excitement into a community. It is designed to attract people from around the county, the state and from surrounding states. It is the Vintage Automobile Museum of New Jersey. We are a “Museum on Wheels” looking for the best location to build a home of 55,000 square feet. We are a non-profit corporation dedicated to providing an educational and entertaining program that will preserve, share and take pride in an automotive heritage that shaped the growth of this country. The Museum will have a significant, positive, impact on your community. If you know about a possible site for the Museum, please let us know.
GETTING CLOSER:
Gary and Ann Stabile have a plan to secure a location for the Museum. The Board of Trustees has taken a positive vote to pursue that plan and accomplish our mission for 2006. Details will follow soon. Good luck Gary & Ann.
