Analysis
Positives: Has good overall athleticism, with the speed, body control and quickness to be effective in the short areas as a receiver...Shows good take-off speed in his release, coming out of his stance cleanly with no wasted motions...Has the ability to avoid the initial tackle on the move...Good route runner who finds the holes in the zone...shows good concentration on the ball, especially when going for the pigskin in traffic...Makes proper body adjustments and extends his hands to catch away from the body's frame...Times his leaps to get to the ball at its high point...Runs hard and strong to break arm tackles...Strong enough to defeat the jams and has decent acceleration to be effective on flats and option routes...Good contact blocker for the ground game, getting proper hand placement to redirect (better blocking for the running attack when operating from the full- back or H-back positions)...Shows good ball security after the catch.
Negatives: Needs to improve his overall strength, as the larger pass rushers tend to wash him back into the quarterback in pass protection...Lacks explosion and pop coming out of his stance and looks awkward when having to kick slide in his pass set...Has adequate quickness off the line, but does not have top-end speed to be effective on deep routes (better on curls and flats)...Lacks technique, strength and leg drive to neutralize line- backers at the second level...Needs to improve his route running skills and must learn to use his head and shoulder fakes to better sell and con in his patterns...Runs hard after the catch, but is not elusive.

Analysis
Positives: Has a solid, muscular body...Has very good balance, staying low in his pads while keeping shoulder square to drag the pile...Can run the toss or option pitchout to the outside...Powerful runner inside the tackles who keeps his feet running through holes... Effective receiver, especially on swing passes and check-downs...Has good shake to make the defender miss...Finishes his runs with good body lean, getting most of his yardage after the initial hits, getting good production as a chain mover.
Negatives: Has major medical concerns, missing the final nine games of the 2002 season with torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee...Has only fair speed and modest field vision, lacking the sudden burst out of his stance (operates with more of a roll into his run)...Lacks the second gear needed to elude in space...Shows no burst going through the holes...Will catch the ball, but does not have natural hands... Needs more polish as a blocker, as he will make an effort to sink and uncoil vs. the blitzing defenders, but lacks focus to do it on a consistent basis...Lacks creativity in his runs, preferring to drive through the pile and cut back inside that display proper hip swerve and wiggle to make the defenders miss.

2002 Season

Started the team's first four games, gaining 257 yards with four touchdowns on 58 carries (4.4 avg)...Also had a 5-yard reception.

Preseason...Failed to run on pro day during spring drills due to a right ankle sprain (was wearing a boot to protect the foot).
Middle Tennessee...Rushed 15 times for 77 yards and a 32-yard touchdown, but fumbled the ball once.
Oklahoma...Gained 66 yards on 18 tries with a 4-yard score.
