III. Arrangements for General Meeting
He Clerk intimated that he had arranged the Toast List for the Initiation Supper as follows:
“The City and Trade of Dundee” to be proposed by Mr Ralph Pride.
Reply by Lord Provost William Hughes.
“The Nine Incorporated Trades” to be proposed by Mr Douglas G Dryden.
Reply by Convener Andrew Wallace.
“The New Members” to be proposed by the Boxmaster.
Mr Grant intimated that he had arranged for Dr P A Moffat to entertain the Members. The Boxmaster reported that Mr Bust Carmichael would also be present to give Violin Selections.
The Clerk submitted Menus received from Queen’s Hotel and he was authorised to accept the second Menu submitted.
It was decided that the Clerk should send five Tickets to each Member of the Committee for he Making to be held in Queen’s Hotel for Friday 20th September 1957.
IV Correspondence
He Clerk read a letter from Mr Edward R Simpson, Clerk to the Nine Incorporated Trades stating that the Craft’s share of the repair of the seats in St Andrews Church amounted to %. 3/- and the Clerk was instructed to meet the Account immediately.
V. Contributions to Funds
A short discussion followed in regard to the Circular issued asking for a Donation from the Members and the Clerk reported on the sums received to date.

Apologies for absence were intimated from Ex-Deacon Brown , David Reid and Lovat Grant.
I. Minutes.
The Minute of Meeting held on 5th March 1957 was read and approved.
Arrangements regarding the Annual General Meeting and Making were then discussed and the Clerk reported that the Queen’s Hotel had been engaged for that evening. The Toast List was decided as follows:
“The Nine Incorporated Trades”
“The Deacon Boxmaster and Clerk” and
“The New Members”.
The Boxmaster undertook to contact Mr Cochran the Sheriff Clerk to ascertain if he would propose the Toast of “The Nine Incorporated Trades” and he was also to contact Mr Carlton to see if he would undertake to propose the Toast of “The Deacon, Boxmaster and Clerk”
No Application for New Members had been submitted and it was decided to hold a further Meeting of the Committee on 10th September to consider the Applications. The Clerk submitted alternative Menus for the Supper in the Queen’s Hotel and it was decided to accept Menu numbered 1.
The Boxmaster reported that he had made regarding Speakers for he Annual Dinner to be held in November and he was hopeful of obtaining Lord Forteviot to propose the Principal Toast.
Mr Dryden pointed out the need for Loud Speakers to minimise the difficulty of the Speakers being heard at all parts of Kidd’s Rooms and this was to be gone into at a further Meeting.

The Minute of Meeting held on 29th August 1957 was read and approved.
II Applications for Membership
The Clerk intimated that he had received an Application from Mr Nelson THomas Carne J P Company Director 4 Glamis Drive Dundee. It was also intimated that Applications for Membership would also be received from;

Edward Hunter Leslie Shepherd Master Joiner Hope Park Victoria Road West Ferry and
Walter Rice Smith Master Glazier 4 Muirfield Road Dundee.
The Committee unanimously approved of the Applications.
III Annual General Meeting and Making
The Boxmaster intimated that Mr Hugh J Carlton had consented to propose the Toast of “The Nine Incorporated Trades”. It was suggested that Mr David Shepherd should be asked to propose this Toast. Mr Matthew M Waddell undertook to approach Mr Leslie F Mitchell to render songs to us at the Supper following. The Boxmaster further reported that Mr Carmichael would give Violin Selections.
IV accounts
The Accounts for the year ended 15th September 1957 which had been audited by the Boxmaster was placed before the Committee and approved. It was unanimously decided that the Clerk’s Salary for the past year should be paid. The Clerk intimated that in view of the Trades finances he was willing to take a reduction in Salary. After a full discussion it was decided to leave the question until later on in the Session.
The Boxmaster intimated that he had asked Mr Ralph Pride to accept the office of Boxmaster and that Mr Pride agreed to allow is name to go forward. The Committee unanimously approved of this nomination.

The Boxmaster’s Cash account for the year ended 15th September 1957 was submitted along with the relative vouchers and these were approved on the motion of Ex-Convener Drummond seconded by Ex-Deacon George F Brown.
