Rupsha 800 MW LNG Power Plant is a combined-cycle power plant located in Rupsha Upazila, Khulna District, Bangladesh. It is owned and operated by North-West Power Generation Company Limited (NWPGCL). The plant has an installed capacity of 800 megawatts (MW).
The plant uses liquefied natural gas (LNG) as its fuel. The LNG is imported from Qatar and is stored in a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) located offshore. The LNG is then transported to the plant by pipeline.
The plant uses a combined-cycle configuration, which means that it uses both gas turbines and steam turbines to generate electricity. The gas turbines are used to generate electricity directly, while the steam turbines are used to generate electricity from the heat that is rejected by the gas turbines.
The electricity generated by the plant is transmitted to the national grid. The plant is expected to help to meet Bangladesh's growing demand for electricity.
Kaptai Hydroelectric Power Plant is a hydroelectric power plant in Bangladesh. It is located on the Karnaphuli River, about 65 kilometers upstream from Chittagong. The plant has a capacity of 230 megawatts and is the only hydroelectric power plant in Bangladesh.
The plant was built in the 1960s and was originally designed to generate 80 megawatts of power. However, the capacity was increased to 230 megawatts in the 1980s. The plant is a major source of electricity for Bangladesh and provides about 10% of the country's total power generation.
The plant has been criticized for its environmental impact. The construction of the dam flooded a large area of land, displacing thousands of people and destroying their homes and livelihoods. The dam also has a negative impact on the environment, as it has blocked the migration of fish and other aquatic life.
Despite the environmental concerns, the Kaptai Hydroelectric Power Plant is an important source of electricity for Bangladesh. The plant provides a reliable source of power and helps to meet the growing demand for electricity in the country.
