Advice of Delivery


Advice of delivery is a service that the CAT informs the sender when and by whom the letter or postal parcel is received.

The recipient signs the document attached to the item upon received. The document is then sent back to the sender.

How to apply for the service :

This service is used together with any postal service which has proof of acceptance such as certified mail, Registered Mail, Insured Mail, postal parcel and EMS, etc.

It is applied for any postal item posted through a CAT officer at a post office or collected by a CAT officer at the sender's premise (a special agreement with the CAT required.)

The word "ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RECEIPT" must be present at the top left-hand corner, beneath the sender's address (if any).


Special Services

Post Office Box


Post office box (P.O. BOX) is a mail box for rent at a post office. With this service, a business firm or an individual can collect mail at any convenient time.

An application for the post office box must be submitted to the post office where the mail box service is available.

If the application is approved on any day of the month, that month is charged for a whole month. Six month term or one year term are available.

How to address the domestic post office box :

The 1st line of the address is the recipient's name.

The 2nd line of address is the number of the post office box.

The 3rd line of address is the post office name.

The 4th line is the district where the post office is located.

The 5th line is the province where the post office is located.

The 6th line is the postal code.



Franking Machine


Franking machine service is the service by which the sender is permitted to use the franking machine to stamp the postal item for the payment of postal fee, instead of affixing a postage stamp.

An application for the franking machine service must be submitted to the post office where the sender usually sends the mail. Only franking machine which has a local distributor approved by the CAT is allowed.

Advance payment is required. The franking machine must be approved by the CAT prior to usage.

The impression shown the value of postage prepaid on each mail item must be made at the top right-hand corner of the address surface with bright red color.

All postal items bearing franking machine imprints must be posted by handling them over the counter at the post office named in the franking machine license.

If the imprinted items have not been mailed on the day of stamping, the sender is allowed to mail them on the next day.


Registered Publication


Registered publication service is the service that the CAT allows a local publisher to send newspapers and magazines to its members by post.

The service fee is half of printed matter service fee. The registered publication must be the same in all publication periodically issued. The period of issuance must not exceed 7 days.

The registered publication service has one-year validity from the approval date. The renewal of validity must be applied within 15 days prior to the expired date.

The registered publication must be at least 100 copies per posting. Instead of affixing postage stamp, the payment of postage fee must be paid in cash. In addition, this service can not be used with other special postal services.

Addresses of the sender and the recipient must be complete.

The word "Registered Publication" must be present above the address.

At the top right-hand corner of the address, there must be a frame showing "POSTAGE PAID, PERMIT NO." rectangular 20x40 mm., postage fee, and the sender's post office name.

Payment of Postage in Cash


Payment of postage in cash is a service of paying the postage fee in cash in stead of affixing postage stamps.

How to apply for the service :

Only identical domestic letter-post items are allowed. The minimum of 50 items per posting is required.

If the sender would like to use any special postal services, all the items must be applied for the same services and the word "POSTAGE PAID" must be present.

Regular user of this service may ask for the permission of pre-printing on the letter-post items by applying for the permission in advance.

If the letter-post items require different postage rates, the sender may ask for the permission to print or stamp the mentioned signs except the postage fee.

The letter-post items must be sent only at the post office where the payment of postage is paid in cash.

The items must be separated into two groups :

One group for the recipient in Bangkok and another for those in other provincial areas.

They must be sorted by postal code and tied together in a batch of 10, 20, 50 or 100 etc. according to shape and dimension.

A cover page must state the number of letter-post items and the recipient's postal codes of each batch.

Payment of Postage on Credit


Payment of postage on credit is a service through which the sender is not required to pay postage fees immediately.

However, the CAT will collect the fees on the due date as agreed between the sender and the CAT.

How to apply for the service :

This service is available for both domestic and international overseas mails.

An application must be submitted to the post office where the sender usually sends mail. The CAT's approval is required.

In case of a domestic postal item, the word "POSTAGE ON CREDIT, PERMIT NO." and the sender's post office name must be present in a 20 x 40 mm. rectangular frame which is at the top right-hand corner of the recipient's address.

In case of an international postal item, the word "POSTAGE PAID, PERMIT NO." and the sender's post office must be present in the mentioned rectangular frame.

If the postal item under this service is put into a mail box, it must be considered as an unpaid mail which is subject to a fine.
