Assignment On Computer Fundamentals

Guided media: This type of transmission media is also known as restricted wired media. In this type, the signal can be transmitted directly and constrained in a thin path through physical links. The main characteristics of guided vehicles mainly include safety, high speed and use over short distances.

  • Guided media: This type of transmission media is also known as restricted wired media. In this type, the signal can be transmitted directly and constrained in a thin path through physical links. The main characteristics of guided vehicles mainly include safety, high speed and use over short distances.
  • Twisted Pair Cable: It consists of two separate shielded conductors. Usually, several pairs of cables are packaged together in a protective sheath. This is the most frequently used type of transmission medium.
  • UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair): This type of UTP cable has the ability to block interference. It does not depend on a physical guard and is used in telephony applications. The advantages of UTP are low cost, very simple installation and high speed. The disadvantage of UTP is that it is susceptible to external interference, transmits with shorter distances and has less capacity.
  • STP (Shielded Twisted Pair): STP cable includes a special sheath to block outside interference. It is used in fast data rate Ethernet, in the voice and data channels of telephone lines. The main advantages of STP cable mainly include good speed, suppression of crosstalk. The main disadvantage is that it is difficult to manufacture and install, expensive and bulky
  • Coaxial Cable: This cable has a plastic outer sheath and it consists of two parallel conductors where each conductor includes a separate protective sheath. This cable is used to transmit data in two modes such as baseband mode and broadband mode. This cable is widely used in cable television and analog television networks. The advantages of coax cable include high bandwidth, good anti-interference ability, low cost and simple installation. The downside of this type of cable is that a cable failure can disrupt the entire network
