General Teaching Philosophy statement
We teach to motivate positive learning. Simplicity is key in our teaching approach. By simplifying complex subject matters understanding can set in. Teaching through demonstrations is what simplifies a subject matter. Thus, our teaching style encourages simplicity which promotes the notion that knowledge about a subject matter can be attained and that learning can be enjoyable. In so doing, enthusiasm towards learning is promoted, and the idea that understanding any topic is not something beyond reach. Our satisfaction has been when students provide feedback, saying, I really learned/understood from how you taught the class/lesson” or You made me understand this concept better.
Exemption Test
Students with no formal qualification can apply for an exemption test. Passing the exemption test would mean exemption from the course. Please note only those who had not registered the course before would be allowed to write, i.e. you would not be allowed to apply if you had registered the course in the last eight years and failed. For those who passed the course or similar courses at NUST and or elsewhere but more than 8 years ago, are also eligible to apply for the exemption test. The online test for semester one, 2024, is provisionally scheduled to be written under controlled environments on Saturday, 24 February 2024 at 09:00 (3 hours),
Venue: Lab 12 (Engineering basement). For distance students in the regions and satellite campuses, the test will be written at respective regional centres and satellite campuses.
