The installation harbors a wide variety of animal life that is indigenous to the area. Some of the more important species and their estimated populations on SVDA are listed in Table 3‑4 (SVDA 1986b, Clarke 1996).

Wildlife investigations have identified a number of mammal, bird, and amphibian and reptile species at SVDA, as listed in Tables 3‑5, 3‑6, and 3‑7. Several of the mammals (e.g., badger and red fox) were identified during aerial surveys of the installation (Dames & Moore 1994a).
