Activities performed:Led in planning the work and organizing the environmental team to (i) Provide support to PMU-NIW to establish and operate environmental management systems. (ii) Offer suggestions for adjusting and building capacity for relevant agencies during the implementation period. (iii) Carry out assessments of and verify compliance with the project environmental management requirements. (iv) Review internal supervision and monitoring reports of PMU-NIW and PPMUs. (v) Verify that the PMU-NIW, PPMUs, and contractors have a copy of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and that contractors have prepared a site specific EMP. (vi) Confirm adherence to the EMP, and site specific EMP where appropriate, for all project activities; where the EMP is not being adhered to, analyze the reasons and make recommendations for corrective measures. (vii) Ensure adequate consideration of environmental components by construction supervisors, based on project documentation; where this is deficient, recommend measures for improvement. (viii) Will be responsible for supporting PMU-NIW to prepare monitoring reports on EMP implementation and submit these reports to DONRE for approval and the Bank for review.
