Much on early history of Alberta Indians, ranching, fur trade, animals (Skunk for Dinner, Saddling a Grizzly Bear, etc.) & nature. Vignettes about Ogopogi, frontier characters, & sleeping with a corpse. Stelfox was a friend of the Indians & much is written of that. He was a strong conservationist instrumental in the founding of the Alberta Fish & Game Assoc. He speaks freely of his Christian faith. A well written memoir of early days in Alberta. Laid in are: 1) Publisher's four page pictorial promo with Christmas greetings & ordering info in Stork's writing. 2) Four handwritten (A.L.S.) letters by Stork to The Book & Gift Shop, Great Falls, Mont. (including two envelopes), three of them on his letterhead with illustration.. One has a 2" cut through envelope & letter. 3) Three newspaper clippings re Stork, including lengthy obituary. From the dj: "'Rawhide Shorty' came West to a sod house and grew up to become a top hand on ranches strung up into Montana and Washington... Now eighty, he recalls the events of a truly eventful life" which included forestry & railroad work, & employment in Spokane & Seattle during the Wobbly (I.W.W.) riots. Fine in dj.
