2724. Quebec City; Ville de Quebec). HISTORIC QUEBEC. Montreal: Valentine and Sons, 1900. First Edition. Book. Oblong pictorial wraps, 9" x 11 1/4", ribbon-tied. Twenty-four b/w -- slightly sepia litho views of Quebec City (Ville de Quebec). Each view has under it a description printed in small gilt print. Short splits to cover edge, and cover fold at binding area mostly split. No chips. Plates are generally fine, but there is a pressure impression at the top of the first seven from something jammed into the like position on the cover (not breaking the paper). There is a similar jam at the bottom, but under the images. The ribbon binding apparently only tied the middle of three punch holes on each page, and three pages are loose. Buy may fairly easily reinforce holes & binding. A very scarce item we are guessing is no later than circa 1900 and no earlier than 1893 (Chateau Frontenac built). An earlier production using this title was made by the Frontenac, but we do not know if it is the same. In any case, no copies of this title presently show up on the internet for sale. Fair. The post card item is unused, Broadway Limited Pennsylvania Railroad System. These are in an old envelope mailed from A. Hriz, Sr., Cleveland, Ohio, to D. McLean, Spokane, Washington, and canceled in 1938. The 6 photos are not post cards. Generally fine condition except as noted above.
