Shell EP 2009.9009 SCE Management Manual
POSITION PAPER 130[shell verification]
SCEs and the performance assurance task level
During this step, all SCEs shall be identified in the Asset Register
(functional locations in SAP) with the relevant SCE group and flag indicating those against which the performance assurance task will be managed (examples are given in section 1.3)
• those which are not specifically linked to the performance assurance task but whose performance is tested during that task (examples maybe gas detection head, emergency light fitting, fire pump starter motor).
Note that items in the Asset Register which are below an SCE
in the hierarchy are only SCEs if their failure could directly contribute to the hardware barrier being ineffective. It is,
therefore, important that the identification of SCEs is not automatically inherited by all Assets below a given SCE.
