Secure Identities and Access

Engagement Setup and Reporting

The Engagement Setup and Reporting phase includes the Kick-off Meeting, which provides an engagement overview to the entire project team followed by activities leading to an evaluation of the customer’s identity security posture and discovery of their applications.
The Engagement Setup and Reporting phase includes the following activities:

  • Kick-off Meeting – Use this activity to introduce the customer to the Secure Identities and Access Workshop engagement, discuss the upcoming activities, align expectations, and establish timelines.

  • Business Value Presentation – Use this activity of the Secure Identities and Access Workshop to present either of the proposed presentations depending on your customer situation with AD FS. The goal is to showcase the potential business value and cost reduction he can achieve when migrating away from AD FS and centralizing their identity landscape with Azure Active Directory.

  • Microsoft Secure Score Overview – Use this activity of the Secure Identities and Access Workshop to present Microsoft Secure Score to the customer and explain how it will be used to identify their current Identity Security Posture.

  • Identity Security Posture Assessment – Use this activity of the Secure Identities and Access Workshop to work together with the customer to analyze their current Microsoft Secure Score and identify tasks that could be discussed during the design and planning sessions to increase their identity security posture.

  • Application Discovery Presentation - Use this activity of the Secure Identities and Access Workshop to present to the customer the importance of the application discovery and the tools that will be set up to perform the activity.

  • Application Discovery Setup - Use this activity of the Secure Identities and Access Workshop to work together with the customer to deploy and configure the required tools in the customer tenant and/or their AD FS farm.

  • Application Discovery Reporting and Discussion - Use this activity of the Secure Identities and Access Workshop to work on your side to establish an application discovery report where you should be able to identify and prioritize applications that can be migrated to cloud identity without effort, and to establish a ranking from the easiest to those requiring the biggest effort. This activity also requires a discussion with the customer to identify other applications that cannot be discovered by the tools.

The Engagement Setup and Reporting phase is delivered in week 2 of the Secure Identities and Access Workshop engagement.
Important
You should allow for at least 24 to 72 hours between the Application Discovery Setup and Discussion and the Application Discovery Reporting activities to allow the discovery tools time to gather information about applications accessed by users. In most cases this amount of time will be sufficient, but it also depends on how much and how often the applications are used for the tool to discover and populate information.
More details about the Engagement Setup and Reporting phase can be found in section 10 Engagement Setup and Reporting of this document.
