Semantics
4. 6
Analytic and Synthetic
Analytic and synthetic here is concerned with analytic truth and synthetic truth. Analytic truth is truth by virtue of meaning (that the meaning of the subject contains of the property expresses by predicate).
For example Kings are monarchs.
-
Uncles are males.

SEMANTICS
Page We can see they also contain superfluous information, thus it is right to say that analytic truth is similar with tautology, as have been discussed in the previous paragraph.
Synthetic truth is truth by virtue of fact. For example Kings are generous.
Priests are polite.
They are neither true nor false in the basis of meaning alone, that is, their truth o falsity is not indicated by the language but depends on what is the casein actuality.
If we examine again an analytic truth, it seems that it tells us nothing, as seen in our example : King a are monarchs, that it can be shown also by : Kings are kings it is the same with Frege’s example in the previous chapter – on the basis of : Venus is Venus, he made morning Star
is Morning Star which is uninteresting or tells us nothing. Evening Star is
Morning, Star teaches something. Or if we make our example to be : Kings
are queens.
But analytic truth seems more logical. How then the Evening Star becomes Morning Star or Kings become Queens if our planet is still around?
