4. 9. 3 Zero expression
Zero expression does not mean as what is found in morphology
(i.e. the plural noun like ; deer – deer, or the verb tense like ; put – put, but the absence of an object signals which are unnecessarily occur.
Some examples are shown below They are eating (i.e. eating apples)
They have a parrot called Montague (i.e. which is called
Montague).
She’s gone away. (i.e. away from here/there).
It is worth noticing here that the absent syntactic expression,
contextually determined element. In other words, that some of them should be related to context like ; Can I join (i.e. join the club/society). All the absent expressions are stored in the speaker’s mind. But according to

transformational grammar, not oly them to be stored but what is being sated, by means of their meaning.
