Brad Odom, President of the Board of directors, will give us an update on what is in store for 2009 season of the Pride celebration for Houston. For over 30 years, Pride Houston has worked at the heart of the local GLBT community to increase awareness and equality in our city. Our initial goals of strengthening equality, building a stronger community and increasing public awareness of our causes still reside at the core of our mission.http://queervoices.org/include/show/images/interview.jpg

As we've made progress to these ends, that mission has expanded to include a variety of new initiatives. Ranging from annual charity events to aiding support and counseling networks, our activities continue to promote social awareness and enrich the diversity that helps our community thrive. The Pride organization consists of a number of groups and individuals who work together to produce, manage, and promote the many events hosted by Pride. morehttp://queervoices.org/include/show/images/pridehouston.jpg

As a veteran of the avant-garde film movement of the 1970s, STEVEN SOLBERG is something of a gay pioneer in his own right.  He's currently finishing a video called "STANDING ON THE BONES OF OUR ANCESTORS: EXPLORING THE ROLE OF THE QUEER TRIBAL ELDER."   And as "This Way Out" correspondents DIXIE TREICHEL and JOHN TOWNSEND discovered (from "Fresh Fruit" on KFAI-FM/Minneapolis-St. Paul), Solberg20is documenting more than history. . . . . . . . . . . .   6:43

RAY BRADBURY's many celebrated novels include "The Martian Chronicles," "Fahrenheit 451," "The Illustrated Man," and "Something Wicked This Way Comes."  But "This Way Out's" CHRIS WILSON discovered that something delightful this way comes when she sat down with the iconic American writer to discuss the surprising gay twists in one of his early theatrical works, 1954's "FALLING UPWARD."  The play, set in the contemporary IRELAND of that era, will enjoy a major revival in Los Angeles later this month, and there are also plans to take the show on the road (with music by KEN O'MALLEY, and written and produced with CHRISTOPHER DAVID TRENTHAM). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .   8:08

Fourth Annual Softball Tournament to benefit AssistHers which is a volunteer organization formed in 1996 to provide non-medical in-home support and care to lesbians with illnesses such as cancer, fibromyalgia, HIV/AIDS and multiple sclerosis. Volunteers work together to provide transportation and care to help clients remain in their own homes. Half of our clients live alone. The other half has friends or partners who are struggling as the caregiver and sole provider. Naturally, support and friendship is extended to our clients' partners, caregivers, children and other family members. AssistHers is a lesbian-based organization which uses the Care Team model, provides ongoing health-related education to its volunteers and is willing to take clients affected by illnesses. Good health is a blessing which affects our relationships, financial stability and every day quality of life. AssistHers is committed to promoting good health. more

Just like the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament, the Holy Quran contains verses that lead traditional clerics to condemn homosexuality outright. But there are those rare Islamic spiritual leaders, or imams, who are gay. One of the first to come out publicly was IMAM MUHSIN HENDRICKS in SOUTH AFRICA. "This Way Out" correspondent and Radio Netherlands human rights reporter ERIC BEAUCHEMIN asks him how he manages to resolve the apparent contradictions. 6:39
