Habitat

The Atlantic spotted dolphin is one of the most endangered animals on the planet. They live in the coasts of the u.s.a. The dark blue in the picture below is where the Atlantic spotted dolphin lives. It is not a lot of room for an animal like this. During the summer the dolphin moves closer to the shore. These animals are endangered because of fisherman killing and taking their food. It lives in a water habitat. During the summer it is warm but the weather does Change it gets colder in November but warmer in May and March. There are lots of fish and other Organisms living in this wonderful habitat.

The Atlantic spotted dolphin eats a variety of food like fish, ells and herring.

But this animal is not at the top of the food chain there are things that eat it like humans and other big carnivores. They track down small schools of fish then eat the slow fish. Tuna fishermen are overfishing and that is causing them to die. The spotted dolphin hunts at night. It eats a verity of food a day but if the fishers keep fishing they will die out.

Physical description


The Atlantic spotted dolphin is a wonderful animal. The fins are pointed and its lips are white. This animal can grow up to 5 to 7 feet or 1.7 to 2.3 meters. It can weigh up to 220-310 pounds. The spotted dolphin is a mammal because it is warm blooded and it has hair and it does not lay eggs. This mammal is not covered in spots it has spots that are black and spots that are white.

Life cycle
The Atlantic spotted dolphin is a mammal that is why it is born not hatched. At the age of 4 it is called a calf. Its lifecycle starts off with it getting born it can’t see so it stays with its mother until it grows. At the age of 4 it is called a calf. The boy matures at 12 years and the girl matures at 9 years. When it is an adult it finds a mate soon it dies and a new life cycle begins.

Facts
The Atlantic spotted dolphin can jump up to 60 meters and stay under water for 6 minutes.
