However, standards of quality are lower among informal vendors who supply more to the replacement market for parts. The overall conclusion is that while the formal sector, which has stronger links with
OEMs, has achieved a fairly high level of technology deepening, the informal sector is still using low or intermediate technologies and producing simple parts mostly for the large replacement market.
