OTHER INFORMATION ON THE NEWLYN FAMILY 1 (continued)
Note:

  • Census records of THOMAS (RICHARD-THOMAS-BENJAMIN-TREWAVAS) married MARY in Mousehole Family 4

  • See Liverpool Family 1 for census record of EDWARD married KEZIAH

  • Keziah is the name of the youngest sister of John or Charles Wesley, probably an old biblical name. Presumably EDWARD TREGENZA's wife KEZIAH was from Methodist stock.

  • Trewavas name derives from mother of Ann Richards of Mylor Family 1 but see the birth certificate of EDWARD-CHARLES, born 26MAR1856 Mousehole, father JOHN-RICHARDS master mason, mother SARAH nee Trewavas, registered 07MAY1856. Recollections of a scandal seem to indicate that this birth was illegitimate.

  • Story of Nannie Tregenza (Newlyn family 2) meeting Ben Trewavas in 1930s on board boat; both returning from visiting relations in South Africa. Ben Trewavas accepted lift in taxi to Mousehole. Taxi taken from Newlyn by Joseph senior with Joseph junior plus Bob (Robert) (see Newlyn family 2) to Southampton returned with Nannie and Ben and luggage ! Nannie visited elderly parents - mother died while she was there. Ben Trewavas presumably a cousin [JOHN-RICHARDS married Mary Cary/Carey Trewavas]. See the birth certificate of EDWARD-CHARLES (Newlyn family 1)

  • MADELINE reports that daughter to SARAH-TREWAVAS called Elizabeth was living in Barnet age 70 approx. in 1970s or 1980s could also be called Mrs S.W. surname unknown. Also reports William and Ernie McLary of Mousehole are children of SARAH-TREWAVAS and Robert.

  • SARAH-TREWAVAS born 1850-1854 probably = SARAH-JANE born 1853

  • In connection with the story about her and Robert McLary at 1851 census Elizabeth McLary married head of household with children lived Regent Terrace Mousehole and Robert McLary widower head of household with children lived Chapel Street Mousehole.

  • JOHN-RICHARDS born 11FEB1816 (IGI), baptised 03/29MAR1816 Falmouth (parish register) probably not JOHN-RICHARDS of this family - perhaps a member of Mylor 3 where others with RICHARDS as a second given name
