   The marriage certificate 1891 of WILLIAM bachelor age 64 to Elizabeth Brokenshire age 54. This gives his occupation as hawker (same as death certificate of WILLIAM-PHILLIPS 1912) but the dates are 10 years out – perhaps he was 54 not 64. Residence at time of marriage as St Blazey and his father THOMAS engineman are correct. The marriage certificate unfortunately does not give his name as WILLIAM-PHILLIPS. The 1891 census for St Cleer gives Elizabeth Brokenshire as age 55 born St Blazey - the census is date about 6 weeks before the marriage.

   No birth certificates can be found for WILLIAM-GORDON 1893 which would provide their mother’s first name to confirm the link. However dates of birth (from census and marriage certificate) match to date of marriage of WILLIAM to Elizabeth Brokenshire. Did she give birth to children when she was age 56 and 58 ?
   
3. 
   Birth certificates for DOROTHY 1895, ELSIE-FLORENCE-LYNNETTA 1897 and RONALD-TREVOR 1900 give father as WILLIAM a hawker but mother as ANNIE-BEATRICE formerly Handcock/Hancock not Brokenshire however their marriage certificates give father as WILLIAM-PHILLIP deceased tin miner in cases of RONALD-TREVOR, DOROTHY-PEARL and WILLIAM-PHILLIPS but deceased fitter in case of ELSIE-FLORENCE-LYNNETTA

   It is possible that the core Unconnected Family 1 (WILLIAM-GORDON 1923 plus father, wife and daughter) does not fit here but that the others (mother ANNIE) do (as in 1911 census).

On their arrival they all took the surname Harwood. Elizabeth and the children were in the USA by 1860 when Elizabeth Harwood (=Elizabeth Tregenza) died in 1860 Shelby County (Memphis) Tennessee. The fate of the three children is as follows:
