Tip #6: Open your Face

As already said: Singing is a combination of several elements: breath, pitch, vowel tone etc..

The sound, (tone or Timber) of your voice resonates on your face.

If you have trouble aiming your sound, it could be that you have a very closed off face.

Since the shape of your vowels is created by the position of your tongue and mouth, it is good to do some stretching and warm-ups exercises exclusively for these area’s.

When you sing, the more open the better. This allows you to really craft the sound of the vowel you are sustaining.

Stretch out the back of your throat, kind of like when you yawn. raise your palate n the back, and drop your jaw, to make a nice space for you to sing.

When you sing, you want to open up the front of your face too.

Watch the pro’s do it and you will immediately notice how controlled their jaw is and how it changes to accommodate different vowel sounds.

Tip #7: Sing Fearlessly

OSHA Online

Singing requires experimentation, it requires risk, and for some people is very vulnerable feeling. Each of us has to begin by discovering our range, (from highest note to lowest note) where our voice naturally changes from chest voice to head voice or falsetto.

When you start singing it might sound completely different then your speaking tone and you have to feel ok going out of your comfort zone to make improvements.

When trying a new technique or exercise, maybe you think you sound ridiculous, but who cares.

Sometimes in order to hit a note you will need to give it full voice and air support and that means being loud enough for others to hear you…. Just go for it or you will never improve.
