(Microcosm) Boston, May 13, 1756. To be seen (for a short time) at the house of Mr. William Fletcher, merchant, New-Boston; that elaborate and matchless pile of art, called, the Microcosm, or, The world in miniature. Broadside. 27 x 18 cm. (This advertisement appeared in the Boston weekly news-letter, printed by John Draper, on May 13 and 27, and in the Boston gazette, printed by Edes and Gill, on May 17, 24, and 31. Bristol and Ford ascribe this separate printing of the advertisement to Edes and Gill, from whom tickets were to be had. However, the advertisement as printed in Draper's Boston weekly news-letter is dated "Boston, May 13, 1756," as is the separate printing, while in the Boston gazette the advertisement is undated. Additionally, the advertisement as it appeared in the Boston gazette lacks a note concerning subscriptions found in both the separate printing and in the Boston weekly news-letter advertisement. A second advertisement, with an entirely different text, and including a relief cut of the Microcosm, appeared in the Boston gazette on June 3 and 10, and in the Boston weekly news-letter on June 7 and 14.)
