PROJECT MANAGEMENT KNOWLEDGE AREAS AND PROCESSES:
First let’s start with the Knowledge Areas. There are ten of them. In the order that they appear in the PMBOK® Guide they are:
Project Integration Management
Project Scope Management
Project Time Management
Project Cost Management
Project Quality Management
Project Human Resource Management
Project Communications Management
Project Risk Management
Project Procurement Management
Project Stakeholder Management.
The PM Guide defines a process as “a set of interrelated actions and activities performed to create a pre-specified product, service or result.” It goes on to say that “project management processes ensure the effective flow of the project throughout its life cycle.” Processes get things done.
