The project will also include renovations to the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre and Riverview Baseball Stadium. The building will contain a large meeting room capable of accommodating 500 people and can be divided into smaller meeting rooms. The facility will contain a full service kitchen and bar area, as well as an outdoor deck. Other amenities include a memorial to Crawford County veterans, and a technology room with computers and space for audio/visual capacity. Additional components of the project include the rehabilitation of existing trail between Panora and Yale; a campground serving Jefferson; depots in Dawson and Minburn to be used as both trailheads and welcome centers; a shower building and camping cabins at Sportsman Park; a restroom facility at the Adel trailhead; acquisition of the historic Redfield Brickyard adjacent to the trail; landscaping trailheads; parking areas; and signage. Upon completion, the arboretum will be home to a variety of trees, shrubs, and grasses native to Iowa. CAT funds are requested for the Southern Iowa Art and Education Gallery, an addition to the Helene Center. This 7,000-square-foot facility will include a welcome room, an art classroom, storage rooms, administrative offices, and an art gallery to display the works of local artists. Phase I of this project was completed and opened in 2003 and included the building structure, gymnasium, walking track, children’s area, shuffleboard, multi-purpose room weight equipment, aerobics area and exercise equipment. The project will include bio-retention cells and porous pavement surfaces. An educational plaza containing educational signs and exhibits will be constructed in the corner of the parking facility so park visitors may learn about storm water management from the demonstration. Landscaping around the project area will also be completed. This project is part of a larger expansion and paving project of the existing parking facilities at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park and Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum.

In addition, the project includes the remodeling of the existing facility to house additional restrooms, a main exhibit area, a bird observation room, animal exhibits, storage space and mechanical areas. The 35,000-square-foot community ice center will seat more than 1,000 people. It will also include a community room capable of hosting up to 100 people, a dedicated hockey and ice skating pro shop, six locker rooms and a concession stand. The building has been designed to augment future expansion as demand grows. These exhibits will focus on the Mississippi River watershed and the Rivers of America. In addition, the River Research Center will occupy part of this building. The research center will feature semi-permanent exhibits which will showcase the research that has been done on the Mississippi River. The RiverMax Theater – This component will consist of a newly constructed facility which will seat 250 people per showing. The theater will utilize the most up-to-date digital technology with a large screen format equipped for 3-D films. William M. Black Steamboat – This component will consist of the remodeling of the William M. Black steamboat. The remodeling will include restoration of the smokestacks, preservation of the below-deck holds, restoration of the paddlewheel box, roofing, and restoration of the metal bulkheads. Old Jail – The Old Jail is a national landmark building. This building will be restored. Exhibit lighting and case fixtures will be installed to make the facility able to accept exhibits. The Old Jail shares exhibits, staff, and visitors with the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. Public parking structure Applicant: Dubuque County Conservation Board Project Name: Massey Visitor Services Bldg. Construction Project City: Peosta (Population 651) Date of Award: 10/13/2004 Total Project Cost: $140,000 Amount Requested: $55,000 Amount Awarded: $50,000 Project Description: This project includes the construction of a two-story visitor services building at the Massey Marina Recreation Area. The fully accessible building will include shower and restroom facilities, concessions areas, storage space, and a visitor services information area.
