Somdejya Learning Community Demonstration School, Bodhivijalaya College Srinakharinwirot University Mae Chaem Distric, Chiang Mai is alternative school and learning center for hill tribes who come from poor family and very remote area on the mountain. This learning center is provided to them free education, accommodation, food and occupation training as important as culture conservation of their culture.

There are 58 students from 12 – 15 Years old. They are Karen and Hmong hill tribes. Learning King Rama 9 sufficient economy theory on agriculture and nature living. The foundation organize the non-formal education school together with nature living, produce their own organic food and education.

Segregation works for Community Development are;

  Creative teaching English – Creative teaching is important to recognize; teaching certificate does not need for specific quality of volunteer but creative is the one of yours. Aims of creative teaching is given the chance for people in the village or the place nearby have opportunity to communicate with difference language, touch difference culture, believing. The volunteer will go to primary school nearby home- stay or practice English for local people in the village.

  Teaching Activity: the volunteer would do the activities base on InterCultural and Language (ICL) with the games, song, Storytelling, and Dancing. Focusing on communication; listening and speaking.
  
• 
  School renovation; the students’ accommodation needs to renovate as it quite old and made from basic material. We could make them more beautiful and in a good condition to be a good atmosphere for them to live and learn. The volunteer could help on construction the new building for the learning center.
  
• 
  Farming –working together at the small farm with the local students in 5 different occupation training farm as their have to work on these in daily; cow farms, pig farms, fish and fog farms, rabbit farms, chicken farms.
  The volunteer could plant more vegetables with students for the school lunch project.

  Building relationship with the villagers – The rest of time from your main work, important thing is to learn and share with the villager by visiting, talking and doing activities with them. You will get rich experience by learning and sharing from each other.

  Eco tourism – There are many interesting places to visit in the community such as Buddhist temple, waterfall, national park etc. The volunteer would go to visit this places and collecting garbage, promoting recycle and keeping the place clean.

Peace Village 2 Korat or Nakorn Ratchasima (Korat is nickname) has been created by VSA since 2015 to strengthen community by international volunteers in term of InterCutural learning and building motivation to communicate with foreigners by non-formal education in the community as well as school.

At Peace Village, everyone can come to learn in the main aim is learning by doing and international community Living.  We can study about each countries, nationalities, cultures, etc. in the class, but in the real situation is not in the lesson where you can see how difference of people even they are from the same city.

Peace Village is active at the rural area of Nakhon Ratchasima province, Northeast of Thailand (4 hours of Bangkok) in the small village; name “Ban Krok Luk” (Ban in Thai mean village). The main occupation is farmer and most of the villagers are Buddhist.

Ban Din Na is the small village in Krabi Province, located in rural area not very far from beautiful beach, tourist attraction and beautiful island call “Lanta Island”. There is a school in the village where all the children get basic education for elementary call Ban Din Na School, it has the same name as the village. The school is primary school has 138 students from primary 1-6. The student age is from 7-12 years old. There is also the kindergarten age 5-6 years old.

Give primary Thai students have the big chance to communication with the foreigner. Destroy shyness from them and let them used to foreigner even now not only English is important to be in the world. To open their mind to the Global learning.

First week-Volunteers will help the villagers set up the festival, and be a part of the festival as international volunteers. You can bring a performance from your own country to perform during the festival including a music instrument to show in the festival. Volunteers are also expected to create a performance in the festival with the villagers

Second week the volunteer would stay at Living Organic Garden, working in small farm, planting and learning about vegetable, fruit, learning Thai cooking and sharing international food.

Location Klong Hae Temple, Hat Yai, Hat Yai is the biggest city in the Southern Thailand

Accommodation and food First week; Volunteers will stay in the temple with no mattress, only a tin mat is provided. Second week, stay at the Thai style house. Mattress and pillow are provided. Volunteers take turns to cook Thai food, and you should bring some ingredients from your own country to share with other international volunteers to create intercultural exchange.

Give primary Thai students have the big chance to communication with the foreigner. Destroy shyness from them and let them used to foreigner even now not only English is important to be in the world. Education camp is the most wanted from Thai people when thinking of cultural diversity. After many camps have done in the primary schools. The students are getting use to with the foreigners and some dare to speak out. We need to keep continuing their chance to meet and share with international volunteers as their improvement. We hope one day the students from the rural area will have more confident to speak English and face to foreigners, also more understanding in cultural diversity similar as the students in the big city. No more knowledge gap!

Volunteers are expecting to work as English teachers in the primary schools. They can preparing their lesson by themselves but the teacher at the school can give the advice (do not expect this point too much even the teachers are also shy to speak out)  and you also get the volunteers history report book which previous volunteers wrote what they had done and information you need.

Volunteers take turn to go to teach at school with Mid-Long Term volunteer of this project.

Accommodation and food Volunteers stay at teacher’s house. Mattress and mosquitoes net are provided. Volunteer takes turn to cook Thai food, you are expected to bring your ingredients from your hometown for cultural exchange.

Volunteer should love to play with kids and please bring some teaching material such as book, kids’ education game, stationary, etc. from your country, it will be the good way for culture exchange and made students have more motivation.

Peace Village Songkhla has been create on 2011 at Peace Village, everyone can come to learn in the main aim is learning by doing and international community Living.  We can study about each countries, nationalities, cultures, etc. in the class but in the real situation is not in the lesson where you can see how difference of people even they are from the same city.

Peace Village is active at the rural area of Songkhla province, Southern of Thailand in the small village; name “Ban Mea Tom Tok” (Ban in Thai mean village). The main occupation is rubber plantation and most of the villagers are Buddhist.

Base on International community living, every work are coming by daily life. That is mean everything even generally is valuable in any case such as cleaning, repairing, building, teaching, learning.

Segregation works at Peace Village are;

Creative teaching English – Creative teaching is important to recognize, teaching certificate does not need for specific quality of volunteer but creative is the one of yours.

        Aims of creative teaching is given the chance for people in the village or the place nearby have opportunity to communicate with difference language, touch difference culture, believing.

        Center construction – As we are new center now we also need volunteer as first generation to set up the center as when they have spare time from main work. We are going to build Toilet, kitchen, dormitory for more volunteers, meeting area. There are villagers help and teach how to build. This is a good way to learn Thai way of construct.

Relationship with the villagers – The rest of time form your main work, important thing is to learn and share with the villager by visiting, talking and do activities with them You will get rich experience by learning and sharing from each other.

Organic Farm – learning how to produce our own non chemical food and vegetable.

Somdejya Learning Community Demonstration School, Bodhivijalaya college Srinakharinwirot University Mae Chaem Distric, Chiang Mai is alternative school and learning center for hill tribes who come from poor family and very remote area on the mountain. This learning center is provided them to free education, accommodation, food and occupation training as important as culture conservation of their culture.

There are 58 students from 12 – 15 Years old. They are Karen and Hmong hill tribes. Learning King Rama 9 sufficient economy theory on agriculture and nature living. The foundation organize the non-formal education school together with nature living, produce their own organic food and education.

Segregation works for Community Development are;

  Creative teaching English – Creative teaching is important to recognize; teaching certificate does not need for specific quality of volunteer but creative is the one of yours. Aims of creative teaching is given the chance for people in the village or the place nearby have opportunity to communicate with difference language, touch difference culture, believing. The volunteer will go to primary school nearby home- stay or practice English for local people in the village.

  Teaching Activity: the volunteer would do the activities base on InterCultural and Language (ICL) with the games, song, Storytelling, and Dancing. Focusing on communication; listening and speaking.
  
• 
  School renovation; the students’ accommodation need to renovate as it quite old and made from basic material. We could make them more beautiful and in a good condition to be a good atmosphere for them to live and learn. The volunteer could help on construction the new building for the learning center.
  
• 
  Farming –working together at the small farm with the local students in 5 different occupation training farm as their have to work on these in daily; cow farms, pig farms, fish and fog farms, rabbit farms, chicken farms.
  The volunteer could plant more vegetables with students for the school lunch project.
  
• 
  Building relationship with the villagers – The rest of time from your main work, important thing is to learn and share with the villager by visiting, talking and do activities with them. You will get rich experience by learning and sharing from each other.

  Eco tourism – There are many interesting places to visit in the community such as Buddhist temple, waterfall, national park etc. The volunteer would go to visit this places and collecting garbage, promoting recycle and keeping the place clean.

Rajapachanukroh 50 School is the school for disadvantage and poor children in country side of Khon Kaen ,Thailand.

The school is under the royal foundation offer education, food and accommodation for the children that have no parents, the children from the poor family, and the children from very remote area. They can come and stay at the school from the primary (7 years) to high school (18 years). They are staying at the school with the teacher, so we are offer them not only education but also life and opportunities.

Give primary Thai students have the big chance to communication with the foreigner. Destroy shyness from them and let them used to foreigner even now not only English is important to be in the world. Education camp is the most wanted from Thai people when thinking of cultural diversity. After many camps have done in the primary schools. The students are getting use to with the foreigners and some dare to speak out. We need to keep continuing their chance to meet and share with international volunteers as their improvement. We hope one day the students from the rural area will have more confident to speak English and face to foreigners, also more understanding in cultural diversity similar as the students in the big city. No more knowledge gap!
