Relationship between the State and the Government

By relationship, we want to know if there is any kind of link or connection that exists between the state and the government. Well, much as the state and the government are not identical or the same, there still exist a very strong connection, link or relationship between the two. This relationship lies in the fact that both the state and the government are indispensable of each other. For instance, the continuity and survival of the state rest with the establishment of government which act as the agent or driving force through which the goal of the state is formulated, pursued and realized. Government, on the other hand, has no basis for its existence without the establishment of the state. Therefore, government is the main institution of the state which performs such functions as required by the state.
