Leadership has many definitions. Within the Canadian Forces, leadership is currently defined as the art of influencing human behaviour so as to accomplish a mission In times of both peace and war, indeed throughout the entire spectrum of conflict, commanders at all levels have the vital roles of effectively leading their people while efficiently managing their time and resources. Nowhere is this more evident than at the operational level of command. Here, leadership is art - management is science - and a commander must be both artist and scientist in the conduct of his duties at the operational level.
