CHAPTER PROGRAM (ANNUAL PLAN)--Program of Meetings and Activities for the Operational Year 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016


CHAPTER VISION: INTERDEPENDENT WITH THE COMMUNITY, ENGAGED WITH CORPORATE MEMBERS COMMITTED TO THE CHAPTER GOAL OF BEING RECOGNIZED AS RELEVANT BY THE ARMY (ACTIVE, GUARD AND RESERVE, RETIREES, AND ARMY CIVILIANS) AND THEIR FAMILIES IN HAWAII.
SUCCESS IS MEASURED WHERE THE COMMUNITY NEEDS US (THE HAWAII CHAPTER) AND THE ARMY IN HAWAII IS COMMITTED TO BE PART OF OUR CHAPTER (1300 MEMBERS STRONG).
Chapter Objectives are focused in 3 areas: RELEVANT, RECRUITMENT AND RETAINMENT.



  • Plan, coordinate and provide activities that benefit the Army and their Families while delivering the AUSA message throughout the entire state of Hawaii.




  • Fully integrate National objectives into all Chapter programs. Be visible in the community and on Army Installations.




  • Continue our support of deployed Soldiers, Army Civilians, and their Family Members from Hawaii.




  • Increase individual and corporate membership through achieving higher member renewal rates through realization by businesses and the “Soldier/Civilians that they want to be part of the AUSA based on what we are doing.




  • Continue a Family Programs Committee focused on meeting the needs of the Army in Hawaii.




  • Continue closer ties with the Military Affairs Council of the Chamber of Commerce.




  • Continue Corporate Member and Outstanding Performer Recognition forums (quarterly).




  • Improve publicity of AUSA and Chapter programs, initiatives and values to the community at large.




  • Pro-actively engage the Hawaii State Legislature on legislation that impacts the military (active duty both Guard and Reserve, and their Families.






  • Continue to increase involvement and participation from all components and Army organizations to include; the Reserve Component community (USAR & HI ARNG), our MACOM (HQ, USARPAC) and its Major Subordinate Commands/Theater Enabling Commands (25th Inf Division, 8th TSC, 311th Signal Command, 94th AAMDC, Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), Army Element at USPACOM, and the many other agencies/organizations where our Army is present.




  • Establish a Sub-Chapter at Univ of Hawaii focused on supporting ROTC activities and our future Army Leaderships.




  • Pursue process to stand up Sub Chapters, in Maui, The Big Island, America Samoa and Guam.




  • Achieve Chapter of Excellence Status as a measure of our collective success.

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES:




  • General Membership Meetings (1st VP) One Per Quarter.




    • The first Meeting (Aug) will be focused on our Professional Non-Commissioned Officer Corps. We will highlight the Chapter’s plans for the year, and kick off the Fall Membership Drive. The meeting will provide a means through which to educate the audience on the valued role of our NCOs in our Army, the objectives of AUSA in support of our NCO Corps, and the importance of membership to achieve those goals. (Seek Speaker (SMA(R) Preston. Annual Plan presented to the Group at large (by Chapter President)




    • The second meeting is tentatively scheduled to be held in November timeframe at Fort Shafter and will have as its theme a focus on Family Programs. (Seek Speaker AUSA Family Programs Coordinator; Patty Barron)




    • Our third meeting will be mid-February focusing on the importance of the Army Civilian within our Army (Seek Speaker from AUSA Hqs (Deb Zedalis).




    • Our fourth meeting will be held in late May focusing on feedback from Corporate and Individual Members on assessing the Chapter. We will also nominate and elect our Chapter Officers for the upcoming year (beginning 1 July 2015) during this meeting.




  • Executive Committee Meetings. The Executive Committee meets the last Tues of each month (expect during Holiday period) . Locations will be at some of our Corporate Sponsor locations vicinity of Fort Shafter from 1700-1800 and alternating months vicinity Schofield Barracks from 1800-1900. All individual members welcomed to attend. (Corporate Members) who are not members of the Executive Committee Committees will be invited based on established agenda where their business may have a role in sponsorship for upcoming event(s). Example, April/May meeting focused on support to Army Commemoration Ball would want all Corporate Members to attend.




  • Membership Activities (2d VP and Asst VP’s for General Membership)



    • General membership drives will be synchronized with other Chapter activities/events throughout the entire calendar year (1 July 2015 – 30 June 2016. All categories (Active, RC, Army Civilians and Retirees) will be solicited. The VP for Membership will organize the various membership committees for this drive and present to the Executive Committee for approval. Plan should be developed NLT 30 Jul 2015.




  • Membership Activities (2d VP and Asst VP’s for Corporate Membership)




    • Recruit early Corporate Membership (with focus on level of sponsorship tied to Chapter activities (where funds are required; ie. Membership Drives, Trade Shows, Symposiums, Army Commemoration, Wounded Warrior Programs and Army 10 Miler/AUSA Annual Meeting.




  • NCO/Soldier Activities (VP for Soldier Relationships)




    • Team with Better Opportunity for Single Soldiers (BOSS), Sergeant Audie Murphy, Hawaii Sergeants Major Association, MSC/TEC CSM/SGMs or Senior NCOs and the NCO Academy to find forums to recognize Soldiers and gather unit needs.



  • Family Program Activities (VP for Family Programs)




    • Work with Family Readiness Coordinators/FRSAs, Spouses Forums (like Hue Wahinee, MCEC and others. Identify needs and make recommendations to the Chapter Executive Committee for support.

OTHER ACTIVITIES:




  • Fund Raisers. (VP for Marketing and Programs)




    • Army Polo, Sep (Army vs. Navy) (1 Aug) Waimanalo, HI

    • Wounded Warrior Canoe Regatta (22 Aug) Waiikiki, HI

    • Two Golf Tournaments are planned one in the Fall and one in the Spring.




    • Other fund raising activities will include sponsorship for the Army Birthday Ball, Wounded Warrior Programs (VA PTSD patient program) and other family events.




  • Awards (VP for Awards) Implement and publicize the revised Awards Program SOP.




    • In coordination with the junior ROTC Coordinator for Hawaii, provide for presentation of AUSA Awards at the Annual Junior ROTC Parade or at school recognition ceremonies in the spring of 2016.




    • Present AUSA awards to the NCOs and Soldiers of the year of the major units within US Army, Hawaii (USARHAW) Active, Guard and Reserve.




    • Present AUSA Recognition awards and/or memberships to honor graduates and instructor of the cycle at USARHAW NCO Academy, Air Assault School, and Expert Medical Badge Completion just to name a few.




  • Annual Meeting (1st VP). In coordination with the Secretary, VP for NCO and Enlisted Affairs oversee and facilitate preparation for, and participation in, the Army Ten Miler/AUSA Annual Meeting. Participation by the Chapter will include:




    • Attendance at all major events




    • Participation in the Army Ten-Miler by the USARHAW teams (male and female) by providing funds to support HOOAH-TENT.




    • Sponsorship of selected Soldier tickets from USARHAW/USARPAC.




    • Participation in and coordination of support to LANPAC 2016 working with AUSA Hqs.



  • Retiree Program Support (VP for Retiree Affairs). Continuing to improve the visibility of AUSA matters to the retiree community is a major goal for this year. VP for Retiree Affairs will develop a detailed plan to encourage participation by members of the retiree community into our AUSA programs and meetings. Articles in the quarterly newsletter and on our web site will provide a source of information for retiree affairs and activities. A retiree member will be added to the EXCOM.




  • Institute of Land Warfare (Treasurer): Continue to support (via monetary donation) to AUSA National no later than 30 June 2016.




  • Budget. See Attached (TBP).

This Annual Plan is a dynamic document subject to adjustments during the operational year. It is our blueprint for success and it is the responsibility of each Executive Committee member to recommend changes as appropriate and to carry out their portion of this plan. As a team, we can bring the Hawaii Chapter to new heights of service to the Army Community and in surpassing our membership goals.
