Case Study Detail Background Mali is in West Africa and is one of the world’s poorest nations with a population of about 12 million. The natural environment is very harsh, and it is getting worse each year. The area has very low rainfall levels, and desertification is a big problem. 65% of the country is desert/semi desert.
