70s Reaction Paper The 1970s was a decade of change, turmoil and optimism for many Americans. During this time period, the country faced the Watergate Scandal, Energy Crisis, Civil Rights Movement, New Age Movments, Vietnam War, drugs, disco music, the Women’s Movement, and a growing distrust in our government. The movie “The ‘70s” is a culmination of these events seen through the lives of young people coming of age during the 1970s. Students will view the film to help gain an appreciation for the variety of challenges the country faced as well as their impact.
Each student is to view the film and write a reaction paper using the guidelines listed below:
A brief summary of the film.
Identify each character and how they got caught up in the themes/events of the 70s.
Identify stereotypes that were evident in the film.
Explain how the film enhanced your understanding of the time period.
Reaction paper must be no less than 600 words and should be organized into several paragraphs.
