A resolution adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of the victims of the Atlantis Plastics shootings in Henderson

A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives in loving memory and honor of the victims of the Atlantis Plastics shootings in Henderson.

WHEREAS, citizens of Kentucky and the world learned with heavy hearts of the fatal shootings of five employees at Atlantis Plastics in Henderson in the early morning hours of June 25, 2008; and

WHEREAS, the five victims, Kevin Taylor, Trisha Mirelez, Rachael Vasquez, Joshua Hinojosa, and Israel Monroy, were dutifully working as so many others do, without regard for the potential danger that lurked among them; and

WHEREAS, Noelia Monroy is suffering from a gunfire wound sustained in the attack, in addition to the loss of her brother; and

WHEREAS, this incident reminds us all of the fragile and precious nature of human life, and reinforces our need to tell others how important they are to us; and

WHEREAS, the thoughts and prayers of people around the world are with the families of Henderson and surrounding communities as they recover from this event, knowing that the true spirit of Henderson is reflected in the actions of its members in the moments and days following this incident;

Section 0. The members of the House of Representatives, both individually and collectively, express their most profound sense of grief over the June 25, 2008, shootings at Atlantis Plastics in Henderson, and send their thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and communities of the victims.

Section 0. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day, it does so in honor of the victims of the Atlantis Plastics shootings.

Section 0. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit copies of this Resolution to Henderson County Judge/Executive Sandy L. Watkins, 20 North Main Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420; Henderson Mayor Tom Davis, 222 First Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420; and Dean Jorgensen, in care of Atlantis Plastics, 390 Community Drive, Henderson, Kentucky 42420.
