Academic Culture Assembly

Executive Director & Assistant Director Application

Fall 2016 – Spring 2017

Election Rules:





  • There are three voted positions: ACA Executive Director, Assistant Director (ACA), and Assistant Director (EdMonth Director)

  • Each person can apply for one voted position.

  • Voted positions are voted by voting members of ACA as outlined by our Constitution on March 21th.

  • Any current full time USC student is qualified to apply. Minimum GPA 3.0 preferred, 2.5 required.

  • For the voted election, each applicant has to prepare a 5-minute speech. The audience will have 3 minutes afterwards to ask questions.

  • Each current (2015-2016) ACA/EdMonth Executive Board member will have one vote. If any current Executive Board member is running for a position, they may not vote in the election.

  • Each current (2015-2016) ACA member organization representative will have one vote. If any current member organization representative is running for a position, they may not vote in the election.

  • If a candidate is a part of an ACA member organization, they may not hold a position on the member organization’s own Executive Board and a position as an ACA Executive or Assistant Director simultaneously.

  • Each Executive Board elected position will be filled by the candidate with the majority vote.

  • Each applicant must turn in a one-page professional resume along with this application.

  • Each applicant must also submit the “Intent to Run” to USC Undergraduate Student Government and USG Program Board using this form.

Responsibilities and Requirements



Executive Director

  • Chief executive responsible for managing and directing the entire Assembly of member organizations, the executive board, committee members, and all other entities under the umbrella organization of ACA.

  • Responsible to Program Board's Executive Board and completing at least 12 office hours a week minimum (paid).

  • Act as the spokesperson for the Assembly; shape and achieve its goals to represent the academic culture on campus and ACA’s mission

  • Uphold the rules and regulations of the Executive Board for which they are responsible.

  • Act as a responsible and professional liaison between the University administration and ACA member organizations.

Assistant Director (ACA)

  • Assume the duties of the Executive Director in the event of their absence

  • Act as liaison with ACA member organizations

  • Uphold sense of teamwork within the Executive Board and the Assembly

  • Assist and aid the Executive Director in all administrative and other necessary duties of the Assembly

  • Responsible for at least 4 office hours a week in Program Board (unpaid)


Assistant Director (EdMonth Director)

  • Assume the duties of the Executive Director in the event of their absence

  • Lead the planning and execution of ACA’s flagship program, EdMonth

  • Manage and direct all communication with EdMonth’s collaborating entities, such as Program Board Assemblies and Committees

  • Assist and aid the Executive Director in all administrative and other necessary duties of the Assembly

  • Responsible for at least 4 office hours a week in Program Board (unpaid)
